hsv red tag

I have just bought a vx xu6 and only got 1 key . What is a black tag and a red tag. should I have these? Do I need to chase up the dealer??
any help would be appreciated. I do have a code on a card for the security system.

These tags were general used it th vr - vs model hsv's, the black and red tags were for the ISS security system, the red tag was the master tag and you need the black one to start the car, but i did'nt think the vx model car had this but i could be wrong am happy to be corrected.

The red tag, as Alex81 indicated, is the master tag. It is used to enable or disable the black tags from activating the HSV ISS immobiliser system. For example, I used the red tags to enable the black tags from each of my VS vehicles to work on the other one. Can't see why the red tag couldn't be used to start the car as well (though I can't recall ever trying). I don't think you can get another red tag without replacing the entire ISS system. You may be able to get another black tag, in which case you can use the red tag to authorise it to operate the system.

VS2 & VT1 = ISS
( some VR-VS1 were retro fitted with ISS)
VT2 on is ESS no tags required.

you can not code a new remote for the car unless you have the red tag
