Interesting, it says it costs 1.1c/km with that technology. Let's compare:
Average fuel consumption of a v8, 13L/100km = 0.13L/km
Price of petrol is around $1.20/L, therefore it costs a V8 0.13 * $1.20 =~ 10c/km.
BIG difference at 10 times the theoretical cost.
Now to bring the price of the car down.

an electric motor with dimentions of 205mm X 320mm, weighs 67kg, and produces 500HP (373kW) and 570Nm!
with 85% efficiency at full noise, you can only immagine the current requirements.... the technology isnt quite right to supply that much juice for 600km worth of driving and not be bigger than a fuel tank

Pretty amazing stuff, but I'd prefer the sound of the V8 anyday.
