While driving home today my clutch on my vy sv8 series 2 was having problems going to 3rd from 4th while overtaking on m4, i had in 4th and while i was down shifting it didn't want to go into 3rd, the gear lever did'nt want to go in the gate, so left it in neutral, clutch in again put into 4th, happened twice. Can anyone help me please or has anyone had this problem, if so what was the cause

Pressure plate could be failing!! I had my clutch PP + flywheel replaced in my Monaro

My GTS occasionally gets stuck when changing from 4 -> 3 even with a RipShift installed. Usually happens when I attempt a racing downshift when entering the Eastern Freeway from Springvale Road. Has never happened with the 3 -> 2 shift. Doesn't happen frequently enough to be more than a nuisance. Presumably the problem is the gearbox or 'user error'.

maybe ur clutch not releasing or you have a damaged flywheel pilot bushing. bell housing misaligned, skip shift solenoid activated.

If it's always just 3rd gear, maybe it's the synchro on 3rd?

PS: I am going through it now with 5th on mine. Bloody expensive to replace 'em too.

It only happens when i'm doing a quick change. I thought it was me at first, but second time clutch was fully in

Mine did the same thing changing from 3rd to 4th. I had to drive clutch less to the dealer. He advised the pressure plate had given up and said that it would take up to 3 weeks for parts as it was warranty and no original parts were available. They were not allowed to put in non genuine parts. They only took 3 days in the end as the lease company shook their tree. ( Custom Fleet have to supply me with a loan as part of the contract.)
The dealer told me that they replace the pressure, clutch plate etc. as a compltete unit as they had to take all parts off the assembly line. I had done 68000 when it died.
