Gday All,

I am considering trading in a vehicle. What do I need to look out for? ie what do I negotiate?
Should I talk down the new vehicle price to avoid stamp duty costs and get little on the trade in or should I pay full retail and get as much as possible for the my car?
What are your thoughts? What works, what doesnt? Anything I should be aware of or maybe avoid?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,

SuteS

I agree. All that matters is how much it is going to cost you to get out of the old into the new. Just make sure you ask the same question of each dealer - "What is the total change-over figure to drive away". The only time it could make a difference is if yours was a company car and its written-down value was much lower than the nominated trade-in figure.
