Hoping someone could help me here, im getting the run around as usual with the insurers. My green slip is due for renewal on the 27/28th of December, and i turn 25 on the 18th Feb.

When my renewal notice came through from NRMA, it was for an Under 25 driving the car for the full year of the CTP Greenslip. I rang them up an enquired about this due to turning 25 a month and a half into the policy.

NRMA's response was, "If you turn 25 within 6 weeks of the start of the policy, we will waive the under 25 premium, however you are approx 7 weeks from the start of the policy, so we cant help you"

I got the same response from AAMI after Shannons told me to ring them and tell them my policy is through Shannons.

Does anyone have any ideas how i can get around this? Does anybody have a contact inside NRMA/AAMI or somewhere that may be able to assit me in this matter? It seems if i delay approx a week i would be eligable, the NRMA rep even suggested maybe delaying the rego on the car by a week and a bit so i would fall into the 6 week bracket.

Any ideas? The premium drops by approx $150-200 so its well worth the saving if i can get it!!!

not much help, but correct or not they have a under 25 policy in place and are willing to give a 6 week grace period. You fall outside that. If the grace period was 8 weeks, what about people who fall just outside that.
Unfortunately that's life, there are limits in place and they have to be adhered to.

Not registering your car isn't a real option either as you would need to do the rego from scratch for the date to move, and that would be more hassle than it's worth.
Have you done the comparo using the nsw gumbymint greenslip site? as I have found the price that comes on the renewal isn't the cheapest available, even from the same insurer... I saved over $100 on my last policy by not using the renewal....

I know where your coming from mate, hence why im looking if there any other options, and not just getting on here cursing, ranting and raving. Its life, but if possible i would still like to save a few hundred dollars. :D

Using the MTAA Website, ive found the price drops $150-200 between 24 & 25!!!!

Unfortunately that's the way things go sometimes.

Shop around for your greenslip and get the cheapest you can find (internet and telephone are your friends here). Don't forget that you will never be the person claiming against your green slip, so pick the cheapest even if it looks a bit dodgy.

Not to be rude or anything, if you are only saving $150 to $200 who really cares, jesus it is only $200. It's not that much of a saving really, maybe if it was a $1000 then it would be different.
