Interesting thing...
Last weekend I did a couple of laps around Mt Panorama. There are heaps of scrapes and dings in the walls around the circuit but nothing compares to the bucket load of blue and red paint on the concrete fence heading to the cutting from Mr Ambrose's vehicle...

MMM interesting how imeadiatly this turns into an Ambrose bagging session :bash: . You people are pathetic. Ambrose is a very talented driver and cannot be said in the same breath as Rick Kelly or Paul Morris. You people continusly bag Ambrose because of his personality not his driving ability. I don't agree with him haveing a personality problem either. But guys have fun bagging him.

You must be his mother or something...? You are very thin-skinned about him. The thread was really suggesting that Kelly is dreaming to be considered one of the top 20 in the world (or writes his own PR), and then someone else added Morris and Ambrose. Whilst there's no denying his talent (and Morris too on a good day), I think the suggestion was more about attitude than anything else. Just relax - go have a cup of tea, a Panadol, and a good lie down..:)

Sorry but Rick Kelly lost me with his outragous comments about Brock's 10 wins on the moutain not being that good at Bathurst  . Smart ass little try hard
He will forever be a little kid with a big mouth and ego, waiting for someone older and bigger to come along and close it for him. The sooner the better to!

well you showed him
There is a post about Rick Kelly and top 20 drivers, then Bathurst and then Ambrose bashing.
I am @ LS1.forums as I have an interest in cars, Fords/Holdens alike. Comments like this ruins good discussions, and then looses interest.

What some of you blokes don't realise is that they are all exceptionally good steerers. It is not uncommon to have 15 cars within 1 sec of pole time and that is amazing, especially considering that some teams have maybe 10 times the resources of others. Just look at Jason Richards' 2nd at Bathurst. Most wouldn't have bet on him winning a chook raffle... But, as with many highly publicised people, from politicians to film stars to athletes, some are genuinely nice unaffected people like Lowndes, and some are real Sea Hunts... Ambrose comes across as duplicitous - smiling hail-well-met, but would punt you into the scenery as quick as look at you. Bloody good driver though... Kelly - damned quick, but still a bit young and brash and full of himself, but he'll grow up. And for all you blokes who think some of these drivers are no good - any of them - do you reckon you could even get within sight of them? I'd say your clothes would be out of date by the time you finished the first lap...

rick kelly might be talented once he gets his head out of his arse.
i think the most talented driver in the v8 supercar series is Steven Richards.
but his 60+ year old man is even better, Jim Richards is in another league.
just think what will we be doing at 60 and see if we could lap the same times as him..
ambrose car at bathurst, just another piece of ford junk, that couldnt make the 1000km's. Like so many in the past years

I reckon AVESCO should have some huge FIGJAM stickers made up.
Rick Kelly could have one, Paul Morris could have one, numerous others could easily do with one and Marcus Ambrose could have one on every window
To the Ambrose lovers, have a look at the forum name, if you can't handle a few Holden biased comments then maybe you should take seldo's advice, go get your blanky and have a little lie down

I agree with you.
He's not perfect, but neither are many of the other drivers, Skaife for one.
But as far as Ambrose is concerned, he is, as one of the Stone Bros. said,"a class act". Obviously he's not as popular as Craig Lowndes, but then, apart from Brock(yes, I know he's retired!), who is!
Ambrose has an incredible determination to better himself. He could've cruised around with Stone Bros for the next few years, but no, he was looking for another challenge, so he's gone to Nascar, which will certainly test him out, & be a massive challenge, for him or anyone else.
If you are serious, you have to admire a person who takes on a challenge like that.
I've driven Holdens for years, & I love Supercar racing. Whilst I would obviously prefer a Holden to win, I also like good competition, &, say what you like about Ambrose, he's certainly provided that, & is always fast.
Cheers, Pickles.

Pickles, I don't think anyone will dispute that Ambrose is fast, he has proven time and again that he has exceptional skills. It's the attitude that turns people off. Have a look at Lowndes, this is a Holden forum yet most of us would be more than happy to see Lowndes win a race (or even another championship), because he comes across as a top bloke ... this isn't about Ambrose driving a Ford, if it was we would all be saying that Lowndes sucks and Rick Kelly is a genious, it's the attitude and ego that most of us dislike.

Absolutely correct Nick. I don't know how many times it has to be said for some of these blue-badge blinded blokes babbling bloody bullsh1t. I'll make it simple for them. Now read my lips carefully:
1. Ambrose is a very very good driver, excellent, great, fantastic - certainly one of the best handful in the country. OK?? But......
2. Many think that his egocentric attitude leaves a lot to be desired.
3. Yes, you could also make all the same comments about another dozen drivers there too, and I don't care what sort of car they drive.
Unfortunately, excellence in almost any field often soon drags a sometimes ugly ego out of the closet with it.
Now...I am not bashing Ford or Ambrose, so just settle kiddies...this is supposed be a grown-up forum

OK, drive around 50 times, as hard as you can without the rear end letting go, impressive hey! I do it all the time and have some great pix (the misses does not like standing on the concrete barrier taking the pix though) ok, now - double it. That's what thsoe guys are doing. Explains why there is all sorts of different coloured paint on the wall.
Kelly, Ambrose. Skaife, Ingall, doesnt matter, they are all top drivers, do they fit into the top 20 in the world? who knows. Put Michael S in the seat of a V8 or even Webber, see how quick they are.
The difference is, who will tell you how good they are and who will just get on with the job of driving....

Sorry from me too. The whole thread got a bit haywire after I commented on some blue and red paint on a wall at Bathurst.
For the record, I love fords and Holdens. It just so happens at this stage in my life I am driving a Holden.
As for the drivers, the only bloke I can comment on as far as attitude or personality is concerned is Paul Radisich who I have met and he was a true gentlemen and top bloke.

Honestly guys, I think everyone worries to much about keeping a thread "on topic".
We were still talking about V8 supercar drivers  Who here has ever had a conversation with someone that didn't deviate from the original topic in any way, shape or form ... no one !! I think if the thread changes course a little it isn't worth worrying about, it's called human interaction.

Think some people are a little too quick to bag some of these guys. Remember Rick is only a young fella and success did come quickly to him so he still has a bit to learn on the PR side of things. And he has the ideal man in his team with Garth Tander there. One of the true nice guys of the V8's. Would love to share this story with you as I think we all too quick to put the boots into these guys sometimes.
Earlier this year we were at Wanneroo for the Perth round. My son who is 7 is a Skaife fan and managed to meet him on the saturday. Daughter who is 5 is a Garth Tander fan and has been since the age of 2 ! I took he to the pit area with about 1 hour to go before the first race on the sunday and managed to call over one of the team managers. Anyhow we told him the story about daughter and asked if Garth would mind coming out to say hello to her. Now you could say that with less then one hour to go before a race he would have better things to do but bugger me he come out. He spent about 5 mins with he signed her shirt and had some photo's. We had other people hanging around trying to get him to sign stuff and he said no to them all. He said he was here to see the girl. This made her weekend (and dad's). If I new how I'd post the photo !!

As I said in an earlier post, all these guys are pretty damn good. At Symmons Plains in today's qualifying session, the whole 32 car grid are within 1 sec of pole! To be quite exact, from HRT's Todd Kelly on pole, back to WPS's Craig Baird BA on p32, there's a gap of just 0.9532 sec.....that's pretty amazing stuff...
