I have been reading some bad reports of dealer servicing, and having just picked up a VU SS with full service history, was wondering if its worth going on with. The car has 96,5000 ks on it so will be due for a 100,000km service in the near future, so hopefully someone can tell me if this is a major service or whether im better of goin to ultratune etc, or doing it myself? I dont really want to break the service history but i also dont really want to throw money away either.
What are the costs roughly of a dealer service?
Cheers

100k in a VU V6 or V8 is a minor - depending on the age of the car, you may have coolant and brake fluid changes due (Gen 3 coolant is due 5 to 6 years, earlier if diluted too much), and 100kms is about right for a sceond set of pads and a disc machine.

Mind you, the vertical hold is shot on the crystal ball tonite so if you plan for a minimum of a minor service you should be a little way prepared :D

Ring around the dealers for a price - you have to weigh up what you want to get for your money in regards to parts/labour warranty and service backup. It seems just about every town has a Holden dealer but not the same independent mechanic. Ask for recommendations, and use that recommendation when you make your booking - you get stamped as a VIP in my dealer when you are a referral.

Good luck with the new truck

your 110k service is your tranny service with the normal oil change etc - best price i got was about 280 which aint bad, so thats sort of your next major if everythings done by the book
