Well credit where it's due, after four years of bridesmaid Russel Ingall has won the Australian Touring Car Series.
I have never really been a fan of Ingall (especially after the Skaife thing) but he has been very humble and driven with a lot more focus and alot less "balls first brains later" this year.
Like him or not, you don't win the title by accident so he is a deserved winner.
Congratulations to Russel Ingall and Stone Brothers Racing for the Championship 1 - 2 (Ambrose finished the series second)

SBR has given ford fans 3 Championships in a row, Im sad to see Marcos go, but what a way to end his V8 Supercar racing shows he is one of the great drivers we have seen in V8 Supercars racing. Ingall deserved to win it this year so good on him he drove consistently and put up a great fight. Craig Lowndes did well this year also, despite the BS penalty he got in the third race. Watch him next year with a few others.
It will be a good year next year. :)

I can understand the (idea behind the) rules on the pit infringment, although if no one was actually using the pit lane (not sure if they were or not) I think the choice of a fine ($10,000) OR drive thru would be a little more realistic.
Although it's doubtful it would have had an impact on the result - it seems unfair to remove the next major contender for the title 'cause someone fumbled a wheel nut whilst PREPARING for a driver to pit........
Lowndes will be on the prowl next year, should be a great series.
Dissapointed that Seton has been ousted from DJR - hope he gets a competitive drive next year.......

Yeah a fine would have been much better but ahh well, Lowndes still got past 6 cars in 7 laps or something like that and made it easier when the safety car came out.
It will be interesting to see Team BOC Next Year, with SBR engines in their cars, id like to see if they will be up their with the best. Good times ahead.

I'm not. The guy is not a patch on what he used to be like. Time to blood some new young guys instead of relying on 'yesterday's heros'.

My money's on Lowndes for next year!
Top racing and great to se a motorsport champpionship that still comes down to the last round (and race!). Top job to ingall and SBR, well done to F..F..F , well, you know what i mean ;)
Cant wait to see lowndes grab another.

It was indeed a great season. As a ford man I can tell you I wasnt feeling comfortable until the last lap of the last race of the last round!!
Looking forward to an even closer season in 2006.

Watch out for Tander next year. Had a great 2nd half of the year and has proven that with a half decent car he can and will win races. And you gotta love the paint job on the car for next year with the Toll sponcership. I'll be the best looking car out there. (and the fastest! )

Well done Russ, but didn't Lowndes finish the championship in 2nd?
Good on ya Rusty. And that driving from the door sill while doing a lap and chucking some donuts effort was special as well. I wonder if he can expect a fine for that?

Congrats to Ingall - he's a top bloke, well deserved winner. Lowndes will be the man to beat next year, that's my tip anyway :)
SBR would be lovin it - top 3 Championship cars using the SBR Ford engine. It's the 3rd year in-a-row they've set team standards others struggle to match.
Watch out for all the cocky Ford drivers on the road now :D Hunting season has begun!

Man I hate reverse grid racing. I actually don't even like the contrived Compulsary Pit Stops. Let them race as they should, fastest team wins. They don't need to stuff this up to make it more 'action packed'.
I agree - watch out for TOLL HSVDT next year. Fingers crossed Murph can be more consistant too....

Can someone tell me exactly what the issue was with the Lowndes drive through?
I couldnt hear the TV in the pits, and was spewing when I saw lowndsey drive past.

Prior to the actual pit stop (while they were setting up) a wheel nut went over the white line into the "Fast Lane". 3 witnesses and a lot of confusion later, Lowndes recieves a drive through.
This begs the question, "Why did Ambrose not get any penalty for the incident coming into the pit lane where he had to drive alongside Lowndes in order to avoid ramming the rear of Lowndes car?" He was clearly exceeding the pit lane speed limit.
