G'day Ken,
firstly, I must say this looks like it is a SENSATIONAL package in terms of quality (obviously) but the price looks the best part.

Unfortunately the budget wouldn't stretch to this kit and I was looking at the lower spec, oem caliper upgrade kit from you a couple of months back. Damian was very helpful during my inquiries.

Alas, I was able to pick up a HSV spec 330mm/315mm setup in the interim and that will do until Ihave a need, or simply the money, for a kit like this.

It REALLY looks the goods.

Keep on bringing out the good stuff. :D

Ken, is this essentially what was marketed as the OE Premium brake set-up?

Looks good Ken.

Is it my imagination, or will the slots on the left be backwards on those disc's? Does that matter?? (HSV are all like that but DBA have left and right facing slots.)

My knowledge of braking systems is fairly limited, so I'm wondering - could these be fitted to a pre-VT car with hub convertors?

If so, would the stock booster and ABS units be suitable?

Thanks

This is a nice package! Can I ask if Red is the only colour available for the calipers in this limeted edition package?

Thats a really really good deal

Very pretty

I'd say the ABS system compensates for the extra bite on the offside disc

The fronts would go onto an earlier model (VR-VS) with a concentric hub spacer. The rears have a different handbrake size but if the car is IRS the backing plate assembly off a VT- should go inplace. For the beam axle guys its a no-go
For VB-VP the fronts would need a conversion hub

Good work Ken

What would the price be, if you had F & R 343 and would they bolt straight up to the series 3 cv-8 ???
thanks David Mc

Very similar specifications to the HSV Premium, (not to be confused with the HBD Premium).

The rotors do not have directional vanes, so the grooves will be opposing on one side of the vehicle ... not that it matters unless travelling at V8Supercar speed as the vanes direction have very little effect on a road car without brake ducting.

It could probably be made to work OK, but with some effort ... the booster and ABS would be fine.
The biggest problem would be the mounting, and the hand-brake issue.

My guess ... too hard.

Red is the only colour for that price, but we can have them re-coated at a cost.
Call Damian for options & detailed pricing on colours, but it will not be cheap as we will have to dissassemble & reassemble each unit.

This kit is only available in this configuration. To go to 343 F&R would be an entirely different solution to get the balance correct (we do have them, but more expensive ... call Damian).
They will bolt up to a S3 CV8, but may require different mounting bolts. We would need to know at placement of order so we could ensure the right bolts are supplied.

Ah thought so, I have the only coloured car that doesnt suit that colour caliper! Pulse Red. Might work, will have to do some photoshopping to see.

Just one more question what type of pads come with the kit?

You could always spend a hour or so taping up the caliper and then painting it.
I did it not long ago after deciding that I didnt want the red racer look.
Bit fiddly to do but well worth it in the end. See the caliper painting thread.

Hi Ken,

With those rears, what's the smallest size wheel that will fit over them?

Thanks

mate that is a awsome deal, considering they are the harrop made HSV calipas with harrop stamped on them rather then HSV. you only have to go into a HSV dealer and get a price on one of these calipas to know this price is a brake upgrade oppertunity of a life time..:D

unfortunatly i already have the HSV stamped version (Harrop calipas)

I had these fitted last week and dear god they are good value for money. I upgraded from slotted all round with green stuff pads and its like chalk and cheese. The pedal feels firmer, you get thrown forward under moderate braking and it looks the part under 19's :) well worth the money.

Sorry I missed this response, I looked at that thread and I am considering it as at the moment as the only thing stopping me getting this kit is the caliper colour. The annoying thing is If I had any other colour car Red would be perfect!

How hard do you think it would be to paint the calipers black or gunmetal grey but retain the Silver Harrop logo? Do you know if the kits arrive with the calipers seperately from the discs?

It may take a little while for you to do it, but I imagine it would work OK. My concern would be the adhesion of the paint to the resin-based coating which we bake on. Good luck ... you will need patience.
The calipers come in one box, and the discs are all in seperate boxes (5 boxes total).

My rears (HSV Premium) were brand new and very red when I got them. Take the pads out and tape eveything up. Give them a quick rub with wet and dry and clean them up before a coupleof light coats with paint. I then used a razor blade to remove the excess paint that sticks to the ground front section where it says Harrop. Because that piece is machined and very flat, the paint comes off piece of piss.

We have considered raffles previously, but it seems there are some legal issues that make it all too hard. Victoria - the police state.

Len is still around ... comes in about once a month for a bit of a chat. He is doing well (healthy), and seems to be enjoying retirement and spending time with his wife. They are both in their late 80's ... I hope I am as active as they are when I'm that age!

Are raffles an issue full stop, or only if they make money?
158 tickets at $25 = $3950 = RRP.

Chops, from what i understand all raffles are an issue i.e. permits. I think you need a permit for each state...lots of red tape.

So does this mean once they are sold out there will be no more, or no more at that price.

I dont know which to get first, LS112 blower or these!!!

Once the 100 sets are gone, we will not be making any more of this model.
We are intending to release an alternative at some future stage (Harrop "Performance") ... within 3 months.

I suggest the brakes first ... no use going fast if you can't stop.:yup:

This kit will directly bolt-up ... no need to change anything else in the system. The booster/master-cyl/ABS etc will function as original.
Braided lines are available ... ~$550 I think for ADR compliant.

ken i got the brakes installed last week.i used the pbr braid hose that came with the big brake upgrade kit, cause your price on the braid was too much for me.the pedal feels spongy, and need to use a fair amount of pressure to stop in short distance.is this normal with 4 spots or not.cause the pbr set-up felt better.is it the braid line that i used from the pbr kit? if so,should i use the factory rubber hose? cause the previous threads that i've read says it stops & starts & stops like nothing.is it just me? or is there a running-in period.otherwise, the brakes look "fully sick"

It sounds like the system has not fully bled all the air, as a spongy pedal is typical of air being compressed. The difference in feel between braided lines and original lines is negligible on a standard vehicle with a kit like this.
I suggest:
- check that the calipers are installed correctly ... the calipers are on the correct side of the car.
- pressure-bleed the brakes using an appropriate fluid. The genuine Holden fluid typically works reasonably well for street applications.

There is no doubt that there is something not quite right if the pedal feels spongy or a lot of pedal pressure is needed.
