Hi all I'm new to this site.Just purchased a 2001 VX SS with 67000k's.Very happy with the car so far.My question is has any noticed any difference between different type of fuels ie:Premium, unleaded and ethanol base for fuel consumption and performance.
Thanks

I think you'll find most people use BP Ultimate (98 Octane).
If your VX is 100% stock, then you may not gain much from using 98 Octane fuel. I'd use at least 95 though.
If you really want a bit of extra performance, with increased economy, check out the Sponsor's (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/sponsors.php?) area for a tuner near you. An "LS1 Edit" tune is well worth the money.

G'day J, welcome.
I run my car on 98 - not really concerned about the brand.
The 98 seems to smooth out the running a bit and fuel economy, I dunno.
I get around 600Km a tank, mostly country and town driving.
I think the general consensus (from my research on this site) is to use premium at the minimum in any LS1. Apparently it allows the car to run on a higher spark table with less pinging, or timing retardation etc...
I've heard too much bad publicity about ethanol damaging fuel systems and engines (even though I dunno if it has any basis), so I'll leave it well enough alone.

Do you mind me asking how much you purchased the VX SS for? I have one myself which I run on 95 Octane but I haven't had an 'LS1 Edit' done yet. I have done the headers & exhaust though...
