I run one behind a 400hp 355ci Holden Stroker, it has survived for about 7 years now (not on the road all of the time) and has a few different engine combos in front of it.
It was built with all the good bits, but the bloke who built it now is a crew cheif for a top fuel team.
I would give a place down in Gelong Victoria a call called tradematics or Hugos Raceglides in Melbourne a call.

Yeah they are great, I have one in a WB ute, with a 355 stroker in it, I have raced it to a best of a 12.5 with a 60ft of 1.71 on BF goodrich drag radials.
And for an every day car it is great, the gearbox is holding up really well
cheers

Mine ran 11.9 at 114 no probs and now runs a 4200rpm converter. Just make sure you have a goo tranny cooler.

I run one in mine. Have had a few problems getting one to hold the current power but all seems to be going well at the moment. Currently holding 268rwkw and have run a 11.2 @ 120mph pass...

I bought a brand new outright full manual one from Hugo's in Melbourne for $1600. You can get good quality rebuilt one's with extra clutches stronger valve body's, pistons etc for around $800-900

did that $1600 include a stall or using your exisiting converter etc?
So if i had 1200 to spend i could get mine built up without too many dramas then..I have a 2500 stall in it now but i would look at upgrading to 3200 when it gets built i think..

That is for the trans only.... I have a 3200 stall in mine and it's great. I have tried a 4500 but without a trans break it ran slower times.
Horsham Automatics in VIC build a very reliable trimatic for engines around 400hp for less than a $1000. Hugo's support theirs for up to 450hp.
