Some might have already seen these videos, but thought a few of them were a good watch.

The main site is http://www.drive.com.au/drivetv/

Story Archive and back videos are here (http://www.drive.com.au/DriveTV/Archive.aspx)

A few worth watching:

HSV ClubSport R8 - Hot Lap (http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=17433)

F6 Tornado Vs the Super Pursuit (http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=17571&vf=10)

Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo - Hot Lap (http://media.fairfax.com.au/?rid=17620&vf=10)

HSV Maloo R8 - Hot Lap (http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=17686)

(And new hot lap record set by the Elfin Streamliner)
Elfin Streamliner - Hot Lap (http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=17742)

The XR6T performed very well. Read on FFs that the hot lap driver is Warren Luff and the track is Oran Park South Circuit.

"The Chip"? Its like they took Top Gear and changed it just enough so as to avoid a lawsuit. Nonetheless I still want that Elfin.

For sure, it's a total rip, but I can't complain seeing more car review and comparison videos. :)

You're right, that Elfin goes. I wonder how much quicker it'd be with edit.

For me this show fails to make the cars exciting. Id like to see how the top gear team would show these cars. It didnt make me feel as though i wanted the elfin.

I enjoyed stahl more when he wrote for Wheels.

I think I'd have an Elfin even if Allan Seale was presenting it - replete with whistling lisps! http://static.flickr.com/41/79170286_e171029fb9_o.jpg

Funny AS! - yea the guys at top gear are much better with there dry british humour, which i like when they are giving the cars a poke with a stick

But i would love to take that Efijy out for a lap one night - that car is stright out ghetto!

But a day trashing a R8 and Maloo would be good fun too!

I might be missing something but it seemed that when 'the chip' drove the R8 Clubbie, the Maloo and the XR6 he got it sideways (intentionally by the look of it) more often than not yet when he was driving the Elfin his lines were pure racing and far smoother. Surely nice racing lines would be quicker than that 'looks great on TV and would require sensational driving skills' sideways approach.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and conclude that the times that they show for fastest lap are not the 'demo' drift laps that they do for the camera; I'm sure they put in a few nice tight and smooth laps when finding the best time.

You're right. I read on another forum the camera lap is just that, just for the camera/audience.

The official times are done off-camera.

I dunno. Even from my admittedly 'non-hardcore-enthusiast-but-still-mildly-interested-in-cars' point of view, isnt seperate race laps and 'show pony' laps kind of pointless, even for a visual medium such as TV?

Surely you guys would prefer to see, even barges like the Clubby or XR6T, being driven through the lines smoothly, rather than like a talented 16 years old in his dads car?

What do you guys think?
