Righto all you so called experts. Tell me which engine this sound clip is from. Yes I know the answer and yes I know the answer is correct because I was there when the clip was recorded so no bitching!! I'll give you guys a little while to have a guess before I post it up!!

Only car i have known to idle so rough is a 13B rotor. :D
But is was no where near as deep or sweet as that engine when revs where held constant at about 10-13 seconds in the sound clip.

clapped out or not i cant tell , but after listening to the soundtrack a few times i think its a holden six with open pipes , thats my best guess

Definitely a six, I would say either a 202 or maybe even a Datto L series 6 with cam and open exhaust.

A non- injected, straight six, with engine pipes only. Probably of early 1980's vintage. (Sounds holdenish rather than Ford).

very very old V8 in an outboard (boat) with straight thru extractors..
Oh and probalby heat soak from the hot day which it was today !~

I was once lucky enough to get a ride in a white one with a hot cam about 5 years ago. Not only did it sound just fantastic, it hauled, especialy since the car was so light.
A vare rare car nowadays.

i rekon it's a old 308 kingswood :) with a 500 on it.... but then again might be a old style lancruiser engine.... ??? one of the shorties...

'tis the vh speedway car.
it actually still has a bit of pipe under there, only cos i'm weak and pathetic and couldn't undo the bolts. The pipe is about 1.5m long from the end of the extractors.
Next task is to get it spitting flames :D
It sound so much like my uncles old HQ Kingswood with the mighty red 202 pre-pollution era.
As for the green cidcada's in the back ground noise, I recken I'm on a winner there!:D What do I win?:p

i dont' think the vh has any pollution stuff still attached, except for maybe the charcoal canister thingy.
as for guessing the cicadas, you get exactly what everyone who guessed it is the 202 gets. a hug if you ever meet me and you aren't smelly :p

sounds like a stockish ls1 out the headers.
it could be mistaken for a 6cyl when its idling, but when the revs go up a bit if thats a 6 cyl i'll eat my keyboard! :eek:

Now if somebody can get a F6 Phoon to sound like that (legally!) then I'd look seriously at a DOD 6 (ie Turbo straight 6).
Used to have a 186S Torana, Extractors, Straight 2.5". Sounded great went even better.
Boy I'd love Holden to do the Torana with a hot 6 (Straight not V!). Put some emotion back into cars rather than bean counters and numbers.

Yep sorry for all those who missed VH's post, it is the mighty blue 202 in VH's VH!!! No exhaust (pipes only) running a bit rough yes!!
