G'day guys, have searched but been unable to find the right answer.
Holden advertise the CV8Z as a limited edition. We have now learned that the CV8Z is going to number 1600, same as the CV8. Not so limited.

Guys can you tell me how many CV8R's were built and in what colors.
I thought the original 2003 model only came in Martini (light charcoal) and then the 2004 model came in the bright red, sorry unsure of the name. But I have heard there are other colours too.
The reason I am asking is a friend of mine is looking at an 03 CV8R, but unsure how many were made, so unsure how limited it really is. Are they all Martini, and is it worth extra money.
Thanks in advance
Princy

03 CV8Rs were Turbine which was a standard colour on other models, with a Shale (cream-coloured leather interior). I think they made about 350. The 04s were Pulse Red, a unique bloodier, darker red than Redhot with red highlights and the 'carbon' centre console surround in red, and a sunroof. They quoted 500, but I think they only made 350 of them too, IIRC. Both used the same machined-face black spoked wheels. Both had white faced instruments. 04 used black chrome badging.

Hey Princy,
You have been misinformed a little mate.
If your car is a genuine 03 CV8R then the colour is Turbine Grey (not Martini )
All 350 03 CV8R,s were built in Turbine Grey.
The 04 CV8R,s were all painted in Pulse Red and there were only 320 of those. This colour was unique to that car unlike the Turbine colour which was used on other commodores as well.
Hope this helps you.
Tell your mate to run with either CV8R as they are both excellent choices in trms of resale later.
Happy Cruzin.

There were originally 1200 CV8-Z Monaros to be built, due to "demand" an additional 400 will be built before the end of December.

The 2003 CV8-R was in Turbine Mica, and is the only version of the V2 monaro to wear this colour. 350 were produced.

The 2004 CV8-R was Pulse Red, and is also the ony version of the V2 Monaro to wear this colour. Pulse Red was also released on the Pontiac GTO with a different name. 320 were produced.

As a side note, there is an article floating around, that states that there were around 40,000 Coupes built over the life of the model.

With at least 20,000 being exported to the US, plus exports to the UK, NZ, the Middle East and where ever else it ended up, as well as those allocated to HSV for the Coupe and Coupe4.

Lets just say that 15,000 were sold in Australia. That makes your 'limited edition' CV8-Z over 1/10th of the entire monaro population...not really that limitied is it...so the extra 400 they are making doesn't really change much.

Thanks guys, that is exactly the answer I was looking for.
Sorry if I got the Turbine Grey confused with Martini.
So all the 2003's were Turbine Grey/Mica, and the 2004's Pulse Red.
Gotta say that Pulse Red is a really outstanding colour.

If I was able to, I would have gone with the Turbine CV8R. Why? Only Monaro with white leather interior. Pulse Red had black with some red dash surrounds.

Other way for me Steve- Pulse Red car all the way-Unique colour only for that car ,sunroof factory and 245KW engine opposed to 235KW.
But lets face it, they are both sensational cars and I would find a spot to park either beside my CV8Z in the shed.
Happy Cruzin.

The Turbine CV8-R has to be the best looking car Holden have ever made IMHO.

That's on the top of my wish list at the moment, wallet isn't allowing it though. :bash:

However limited a build of 1200 was, and a extra 400 in the total scheme of things being a drop in the ocean - the extra 400 represents a 33% boost to the Z itself, which is no small number - and frankly is a disgrace to have happened.

Hi,
While we are talking limited Monaro numbers, does anybody know how many CV8 Series 1 Monaros were painted in "Flame Red" (A red/ orange colour).
And now I'm asking alot, the number manufactured with Flame interior, and to really ask the world, a break down of Flame Red/ Flame interiors and Manual/ Autos. I'm dreaming, but thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Maybe put a request up for 'Holden' in the Holden section. Flame wasn't a common colour, neither was the flame/flame combo. The general split on Monaros was about 70 auto/30 manual supposedly.

I remember Graham Smith of the Herald Sun Cars Guide predicted a few years ago that Flame with the Flame interior would become one of the more sort after combos in the years to come, maybe he was right?

I hope so. :P Mine is a flame/flame M6. I heard that they only made 300 Flame Red Monaros. I wonder what the Manual/Auto and Matching/Non - Matching interior split would be... I think also around 10 sedans in that colour (although somewhat irrelavent).

Fezz... I have to agree with you on that "best" even Holden. The complete package both to look at and drive... It is on the top of my list ... now I need a gararge to put it in.

ANyone know the paint code for turbine? Pulse red seems to be 129L
(according to ultimategto.com which says it was called the same name in the US - with 800 GTOs built in that colour they reckon).
I am just trying to do a matrix of colour names US versus here + their paint codes. Will post when I have it finished.
Thanks,
bryan

My personal favourite monaro is the one in off tap rides 1.6 which i have seen in real life and looks better then it does in pics with its white walls on the tyre and its perfect ride height.

General info follows:
I gave Holdens customer assistance a call ...transfer.....transfer.... asked the question again, "Is it possible find out the number of Monaros made in the combination of Flame/Flame/M6......the answer was "NO"! he went quiet and said nothing else, and after 5 seconds I got the hint and hung up.
I thought shit he's having a bad day.
So back to LS1.com again.

(You would think Holden kept stats on vehicle colours IE. what colour sold well in Utes, sedans etc.???)

Cheers.

;) Can anybody tell me if there is any significance to the lettering of some models? I particularly wonder about the R in cv8R? I asked at the dealership, the blank look I got prompted me to come here instead!!!

What a tosser!
They do keep stats, that's why hothouse green was killed off after just being in VY I.

We are both correct.

I have quoted the code listed on the Holden ID plate and you have quoted the " W Number" code.

The code I quoted (897K) was taken from a friends CV8R ID plate under the bonnet. What is the "W Number" code Dickie? And any idea why paint codes change between models i.e. V2 SIII Redhot - F143 code and VZ CV8 Redhot - 687F code? cheers Marty

I think a panel beater / Paint guru will have to answer some of those questions.

I just went out a looked at the Caprice.

Holden plate said C137 = Capricorn Green = 686F ( W number )

Hi Guys,
Have to say I prefer the 04 CV8-R.
Couple of reasons:-
-Unique colour only released on this car
-245KW
-Factory Sunroof
-Black badging
-& Black interior is more practical and easy to keep clean.

The biggest reason though is COS I OWN ONE!!!! :yahoo:

Cheers

OK we now know that there were 15000 Monaro CV8's sold in Australia between 2002 and 2006. Does anyone have a break down of the HK, HG and HT models stick to V8's only. Lets try and workout if our CV8's will be worth a lot more in 20 or so years.

Hi all, picked up my Turbine CV8R from Sydney last Friday, to go with my SV8 daily driver. Only 43,000km's showing. 44,000 now since I had to drive it home to Brissy :) I couldn't be happier. Love the light coloured leather interior, very classy car and did the trip with consumate ease. Even got
10.9L/100km with the aircon on all the way! :goodjob:

Would love to know if anyone knows what the split is of the 350 made between manual and auto. Mine's the manual and I've heard maybe only around 80 of those?

Maybe but Turbine was a colour found on many Holden models, much like pretty much every other Holden colour was shared between models. Pulse Red only ever appeared on the 2004 CV8-R.
