View Full Version : Roadwork speed signs - Disco lights?

I was out for a drive yesterday and I went through another deserted roadwork zone with a "this is how fast your going now" display. Sometimes they flash "slow down", sometimes they show your speed. Yesterday I swear it flashed the old red and blue disco lights at me.

Has anyone else seen this?

They have them on Majura Rd. They flash the red & blue when you go over a certain speed, not sure exactly but it might be 80km/h. Up to about 60km/h they just read out your speed and then above that the "Slow Down" message, and then the disco lights above 80. Can't see why the speed limit is still 40km/h there at the moment as the roadworkers are on holidays.

Are these like the ones that are painted yellow and are on a trailer... that have the face that Smiles at you when your going at or under the limit.. and then it frowns and the face looks like its cracking it when you go over???

If these are the ones ive never tried to go real fast to see if they start flashing blue and red...

In Queensland they just flash random messages (not related to your actual speed).Amazing they haven't put cameras in them to increase revenue!

Had to confirm what I saw so I showed the missus yesterday arvo. Yep. Red and blue disco lights!

Either that or I've got two tickets now :lol:

I would laugh and laugh mick if you got two tickets, just so you could show jodie!! but don't worry, that one on Majura road flashes at me everyday and im still ok, But it gave me a scare the first time it did it at night!, Suddenly seeing that flashing on the side of the road! :eek:

it's in the ACT, near the Canberra Airport.
