Who can you recomend to do a chip edit on my VZ SS 6M located on the Gold Coast that is reputable & reliable?

Nobody. Firstly a CHIP is a total waste of time and wont get you much more power (if any)

Do a search on LS1 edit, HP Tuners. Your factory PCM can be reprogrammed and will be FAR better than any chip plus has the added benifits of reducing torque management. Go and see Mark and Sean at Powertorque in Brendale. its well worth the drive. There isnt another shop in QLD that i'd recommend.

take an hours drive north and go to power torque... and talk to the lads there :)

thats 2 hits for powertorque so far :) from voodoo and myself im sure if you searched about power torque.. im sure you wouldnt go anywhere else even if it is an hours drive... if that (depending on traffic over gateway)

Power Torque is where I will be taking my Clubbie in a week or two when they open up for business again. :) Quick question.... Do they stock exhaust systems there as well?

Have a great New Year everyone!:D

has anyone tried anyone else?
Or do you guys just recommend powertorque because thats the only place you have been to?

Surely in the whole bris/GC there is someone else who can do a good job?

Brendale is a bit too far for me. 1.25hrs each way. i would also have to wait for all work to be done, too far to ask someone for a lift

Yes there are others, but most end up at PT sooner or later to have it done again.;)

Like everyone in this thread has said before take it to powertorque. Whats another few hours when you no the job will be right. I drove there and got there at 8.00am and waited for mine and drove out of there around 1.00pm with a :D

The wait is worth it.

How long does it generally take. Like Matt from Tweed Heads I live at least 1hr away & would have to wait for the car.

I don't go that far for my holidays.

Cheers Nick

Perhaps those gents who travel from as far afield as Cairns for a PT tune could help you out with a few Holday pointers :D

I havn't been to PT myself but I have rung around everyone in brisbane looking for the information/answers for some rather smart and dumb questions and PT were the only ones that would talk to me over the phone and not have to ring me back (I assume the others ring PT for the answers).

Its pritty obvious from all the above replies that these are the commodore gurus in QLD. ;)

Trust everyone when they say to drive the 1 and a half hours or whatever to get it done. When it comes to getting my diff gears done and some chip/dyno work, I will be driving the 2 or whatever hours it takes to get there - there aint no way in hell I would take my car to anyone else in this town/QLD.

You wont find anyone else that will be able to tune your car o the parrameters they do, I know it sounds strange that other tuners can't equal them but it's true.

You make the time to go there and get it done, it's done once & it's done right. Other places may give you some improvement but will not match thier ability, it's the same money and it is worth the extra time to travel for the service.

If you have the choice of 2 similar products, one superior to the other and both similarly priced you would be mad not to buy the superior product. Trust me, it is worth the trip and wait to have it done at PT and there is a nice comfortable lounge in the front with plenty of magazines to read. Mark will patiently explain what he does and answer any questions you may have. There are many many happy customers who will agree, this is the reason we all go there.

this was the whole reason why i sold my 300zx, because i was sick of taking a whole day off work driving 100k's north just to get my car serviced/tuned by a proffessional.

Maybe when i go see him il try to get as much stuff done as possible to make it worth the drive and the wait, and while im there he mose well get some free labour out of me, coz il be bored shitless and have nothing to do anyway

Ahh well, still glad i chose the VX over the zed. :D

Can't believe you guys are worried about a 1.25 hour drive. I am considering driving 11 hours from here to get them to do it. Sure we have people around here that do it..........but the Korean's make cars too....not well, but they make cars.....

Surely can't be hard to find something in Brisbane to do.

CHIPTORQUE at Nerang Gold Coast have been tuning cars long before most of the other companies were concieved. CHIPTORQUE have finally realised that "chips" are dead as a tuning tool (hey, they were good in the nineties, as that's all we had) The last time I checked into CHIPTORQUE earlier this year they had just started being a HP Tuners tuner. If I was up on the Gold Coast that's who I'd take it to. But, the way people go on about Powertorque I'd probably go there as they are more Gen III specialists if you would call them that (they do other cars as well!)

Food for thought.

I live in Sydney, so I'm booked into Steve at OZTRACK tomorrow - can't wait!

if its taken them 8 years to realise that Chips and LS1's dont go then i wouldnt take a horse and cart to them.
