G'Day all,
I was just wondering if the vx commodore and vz ss commodore gaurds are interchangable? Do you have to change the headlights on the vx to fit the vz guards?
If there not swapable is there a flute assembly that you can buy, cut the gard to fit it and put it in? As in not just the flute, is there the metal cutout the flute sits in that you can get (because the flute is a little resesed in the hole and clips in somehow from what I can make if it.)
Cheers

As far as Im aware, yes the guards are totally interchangeable. You can put VZ guards on your VX but you will need to update to VZ headlights also, due to the different indicator shape. Im not sure whether the VZ bonnet line is different to earlier models, if so you will also need the new bonnet. Anyone else sure about this one??

you will have to change the guards, bonet, lights and front bar.

Hmm I dont think I will be changing the guards over then.
What about though is there a metal peice that the flutes/indicators sit in that I can get from holden and have cut/welded into my gaurds?

I believe NVU (forum sponsor) has them or has some one to weld them into your guards

In Street Machine Commodores issue #14 on p142 shows guards for a VT/VX with VZ flutes from JHP. Hope that helps

Probably be cheaper and easier to cut a hole in the guard and buy the SS / HSV insert.

Pardon my ignorance, but the flutes you are talking about, are they the gills on the sides of the VZ's?

Here are some more pics with our conversion carried out and I have a few more pics to upload of some more vehicles we have done over the next few days. The quality of the workmanship is at the same level of an OEM item and hence why they fit first go every time.
If we can be of further assistance or require more information please feel free to ring me on 03 9466 1011 after Tuesday next week.
Cheers Nick
