What free Spyware Program are you using
I have Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4 and Adaware 6.
Is there any other Freebies available that are better then the above two.

You have 2 of the 3 best programs on the market.

The 3rd is Microsoft AntiSpyware (beta).

Also, jump on https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 and make sure your computer is fully secure.

adaware and spybot are the main two in my kit.. a few of the tools off grc as well, and a bit of hard earned knowledge.. hijackThis! is a vital one as well.

you want only freebees...?????

thats like bringing a knife to a gunfight

i run 5 anti spy-ware / trojan/malware etc etc ...programs
they all have their own capabilities

firewalls/ D link/ are all a necessity

but then thats my opinion

Firewalls dont do much for Spyware since they come in on port 80

Hmmmmmmm
i class anything that comes onto my o/s uninvited as spyware etc etc
so if you have something that tells you of activity, you can then deal with it.
my current o/s has been running 2years [ and i travel alot on the internet ] and i have been attacked by everything....
REFORMAT does not equate to me....i like to beat them at the own game
hence multiple "add ons"

Spyware Blaster is another freebie one that I use as well as Adaware and Spybot. SB is more of a preventitive, it blocks stuff from getting on your computer in the first place rather than trying to clean the crap off once it's there. Available from javacoolsoftware.com. Careful if searching for anti-spyware using Google or othe search engine as a lot of these similar sounding software are actually spyware or worse!

I got stung by SpySheriff last week. I eventually got to a site called bleepingcomputers.com which has tools and instructions on how to get rid of this crap.

The tools included HijackThis mentioned above and others. It took a while to go through all the steps but eventually it was fixed.

The site has help on a wide range of computer problems, so it is worth making a note of it.

Cheers

I hate to be another one of these people that tells you to dump IE and use Firefox, but seriously IE is your problem. I don't run ANY anti-spyware stuff because I use Firefox.

EDIT: Febs' suggestion isn't too bad either. I use Mac OS X sometimes as well and it's great. Not too useful if you have a PC though :)

Agreed. Fantastic browser that's available on all three major platforms (Win, *nix, Mac). IE may have some fancy features...but generally those features were available in Firefox months earlier. :)
