G'Day all,
Is it worth taking out my injectors (when I get my car back) and getting them professionally cleaned? If so what would I expect to pay? And is it worth it just floggin them off and getting 'better' ones? (Will getting better ones give me more kw's (o yeah!! - lol) on my V6?
Cheers

I did it a couple of month's ago.
Read it here.

I think Sonny is right though, buy a new set if you think they are playing up on you. The cost of getting them cleaned is heeps more than 8 new ones if you don't know anyone in the industry that clean's them in the sonic bath.

I had mine cleaned by an expert that didn't know about using the different solution, (neither did I) and I had a couple of anoying problems at startup soon after, I was chasing around to find the cause of my problems, not giving any thought to the injectors, until I read AZZA's post, then I replaced the injectors and now all is fine.:D

I got some SVO 30s off an ebay seller in the USA new and cheap. They are 36lb and will be plenty enough fuel for most cars that arent FI or Strokers.

It depends on how many km's they have done and if they are playing up? If they have a few km's on them and theyt are ok, then it is definately worth it. If you pull them out yourself and send them to a shop that flow checks, sonic bath and cleans them properly, you can be looking at roughly $20-$30 each. If you do choose this option, make sure you fit them back in ASAP and get them running. The solution in the sonic bath can actually ruin injectors if the it is left on the injectors for a long period of time. (i've done it to a set from a clients car !! Expensive exercise)

Supercharged V6 injectors are an optional extra on the Harrop supercharger kit.

For those of us who are about to install a new set of injectors in a Gen III, what happens if we fit Supercharged V6 injectors? Will they run OK with our standard or LS1 Edit settings?

If they will run OK with what we've now got, it might be nice to have them in place incase we decide to fit a syupercharger.

No according to a mate of mine who did it. Had done a lot of work to his motor (Ported heads/ big cam, etc) and was advised to put in SC injectors. It ran like a pig, Sam's tuned it but had to take out so much fuel it wasn't funny and it never ran right with those injector fitted.
If a thursty motor like that doesn't like them imagine what a stock would be like?
From what I have read and talked about to other performace mech's the standard injector's are fine and can handle up to about 425RWHP/317RWKW

100% agreed.
With my recent issues with idle/partial throttle problems I thought the problem might be with the injectors. Was quoted $300 for someone to come out and ultrasonically clean them.

Ended up getting a set of 8 injectors, from an LS1 that'd done a few hundred kms...for well under $100.

(As it turns out, my old ones were fine. Lots of people have said the LS1 injectors rarely need cleaning too).

Well there not really playing up I just thought that it would be a good preventative maintainence" thing to do :)
My car has about 70000Ks on it and I have run the nulon? injector cleaner through them before and it was good, but yeah just a preventative thing really :)
Maybe I could do something else instead?

Cheers

Premium Unleaded is a good preventative measure. It's got a heap of detergent in it.

That's another good reason to run PULP from Mobil, Shell, Caltex or BP.

From what I've heard, it's not worth it. You could probably put the money towards more effective preventative maintenance elsewhere.

70k isn't much. Mine had 122,000km on them and were fine. When and if yours go, I'd just buy a cheap set. :)

While I'm here - those that have HIGH km LS1s (250,000km+) like Limo LS1...have you ever had to clean or replace the injectors?

Yeah I run the BP 95 ron and once a fortnight I put the 98 stuff in. Once in a blue moon I put the caltex high po fuel (whatever ron it is but their good stuff) in and very seldom (as in no other fuel stations around I run the the optimax -although they have some 95 ron or something like that also which I have found to be good on the 6.
Cheers all on your replies. :)

'Big' injectors are like a 'big' aircleaner... useless unless your engine needs 'em. And unless you're pushing big power...

Run some injector-cleaner-in-a-can thorugh every now and then if you want...
