I posted in another thread on this subject in response to a query by Uncle Tone but I note that it has been childishly edited by one of the sponsors who has been absent for a few weeks and did not reply to the query. Such infantile petulance...
But, having spent 30 odd years flogging used old Rollers, Bentleys Jags etc, I can thoroughly endorse the effectiveness of several products in reclaiming tired dry leather including both Hide Food, and Jay Ell, which is made by Joseph Liddy in Melbourne. In cases where the leather is in great need of a re-colour, I have also seen it sprayed lightly with automotive lacquer which is surprisingly effective even if it sounds a bit rough. I was first shown the technique by our regular old-time craftman motor trimmer who'd been doing it for 50 years. Like I say - sounds rough but it does work very effectively. When trying to re-nourish tired dry leather, just apply heaps of the Jay-Ell which is a bees-wax based product and then leave the car in the sun with the windows closed so that it heats up and the product is absorbed into the leather. After 2 or 3 applications it comes back surprisingly well.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying that this better than the sponsor's products but having used it umpteen times I can endorse its effectiveness.

I can't argue with that, but at the same time there's more than one way to skin a cat and other opinions are sometimes of some worth as well, especially since at the time it seemed that there was to be no response from the host sponsor..;)

I only thought it fair to make others aware as to our phone conversation today over the deletion of your posts and others in my sponsors area.

If you look in my sponsor area which I know yourself and your associates do on a regular basis you will have seen and my recall the topic I started called "SEASONS GREETINGS". In that topic I wished everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year and advised all THAT FROM THE 21/12/05 - 02/01/06 I WOULD NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AND THAT ANYONE WHO REQUIRED HELP WAS TO CALL ME OVER THAT PERIOD
Three days ago I purchased a laptop and wireless mobile internet card which I'm currently using at this point in time whilst still on the Gold Coast on a working holiday. No one was ignored.

As I pay to advertise on this forum certain systems are given to premium site sponsors, one of wich is to be able to edit and delete posts which conflict with the sponsors products endorsement. I exercised this last night as according to the rules I signed up when paying for premium site sponsorship. AT NO TIME DO I RECOMMEND TO ANYONE PRODUCTS THAT I HAVE NOT USED AND TESTED MYSELF AND THAT GOES FOR APPLICATION PROCEDURES AS WELL.This and was the reason for not only the deletion of your reply, but also all others in the topic.
Whilst as I said to you in our phone conversation today I appreciated your reply and information it is not a product that I have used and tested and as many people who have PM'd me asking me for detailers I recommend in the rest of the country I don't recommend products and/or services I have not used and/or tested myself.
At the same time in this day and age, wrong information posted on an internet forum can be used in a court of law. Whilst as I stated you may have had no problems in the past if Uncle Tone did, and with the information being in my topic area under my business name I am liable for all damage if your product recommendation and application procedure was applied by Uncle Tone. Whilst yes I acknowledge the chance of something going wrong may have been like winning the lotto, in business I plan for the worst and hope for the best, hence my actions.

Before I made my reply last night and deleted several posts from other forum users, I spoke at length to Shaun from Extreme Trimming on the Gold Coast who works with automotive leather everyday. Due to his experience and qualifications I posted up his helpful information, and added his concerns using different products made for different grade leathers.

Whilst once again I will say it, I did appreciate your answer and the others too (that includes Glenn and Stewart).

In an effort to be fair on all as there are numerous products and application procedures that I myself have never tried but I certainly would like to. So due to this I have started this following topic http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=558449#post558449 It's specifically for topics like this and both conventional and non conventional products and application procedures.

I can not be fairer than this. Once again in fairness as I said to you today I not only deleted your posts, but all others too. I will at no time recommend products and/or service that I have not used and tested myself.

Thanks.

................. I will at no time recommend products and/or service that I have not used and tested myself.

Thanks.
Thanks for clarifying that Rick.
I have used these products and method many many times over many years, on many cars, hence my endorsement. I'm not saying that it is the best, nor am I suggesting that it is any better than those that you endorse, but, in the interest of fairness and in trying pass on the benefit of my 30 years of experience , I offer an alternative. And if anyone wants to try to sue me for it - best of luck... I'm happy to take my chances. But thanks for clearing that up..
