From what I have read the new 6.0 SS will be available in Devil Yellow...are there any other cosmetic changes to the VZ SS in 6.0 guise?

ive seen a vx ss in devil yellow. it looked pretty hot, id doubt they would make any cosmetic changes on the eve of the debut of their latest model.

Agreed. Shouldn't be much of a change, if any, apart from possibly some new decals to highlight what's under the hood ... something along the lines of ...

V8
6.0 Litre
(sans-DOD)

i was thinking more like:

GenIV V8
Take That Ford!

or

6.0L V8
S*#T Hot

i wonder if they will call it a series 2. last time there was an engine change between Series's was the VT SS from the 5ltr to the 5.7

the sv6000 looks amazing in devil yellow, i reckon the ss will look great in devil yellow. never was a fan of the yellow s1-3 monaros, just too curvy a car for it. made it look like a trough lolly imho :)

When is Holden going to start using the new 6.0 litre engine? And, will they also be installing it into the SS Ute?

Because I'm wanting to buy one but I'd rather the new engine.

G'day Nikola.

Holden will be using the 6.0 litre L76 engine from 2006 because the GenIII LS1 doesn't meet the Euro III emissions standard.

No doubt the 6.0 will be fitted throughout the entire range.

There are sevral threads discussing this topic, do a search and you'll probably come across them.

Regards,
Macca

Any SS / SV8 built in 2006 will have the 6 litre donk.

If you place your order, make it clear you want the 6 litre.

Suprisingly, the Holden site is still referencing the 5.7 litre :hmmm: :hmmm:

have 5.7l versions been heavily discounted now with the arrival of the 6l?

I think the Holden site is still referencing the 5.7 as:
1. They have been on holidays
2. They do not want to update the site to refer to the 6.0 as they would have to tell us more about what else is changing.....it appears that all will be revealed on 16 Jan when production restarts....refer to other threads.

FWIW - only the S and SS Utes will be produced in Yellow according to the last Holden press release

Spot on Goggs,

Production starts on 16.1.2006 at Adelaide's Elizabeth Plant when the production line workers return from holidays.

City Holden in Adelaide take delivery of their first demonstrator on 19.1.2006

Yep, that's what confused me. I read in Wheels that from January 2006 the LS1 no longer complies with new emissions but their web-site mentions nothing of the new engine.

I might just visit a dealer and enquire.

To be honest Holden would be mad to publicise this to the extreme as now they have a whole range of 5.7's to excuse the pun 'dispose of'

only 4 weeks till the Melbourne Motorshow, i am guessing that's when the Media release will come out, and the cars will first be seen publicly - I am guessing it will look like a VZ Commodore though

The VZ update isn't big enough to warrant waiting for the MMS.

Besides, demonstrator models should be made available to dealers in a couple of weeks.

they will send them out to sea - across the tasman to NZ that is!

I suppose that dealers would have known for quite some time and would not have ordered in any 5.7's for stock - only for customer orders - although my local dealer was telling me that he has to order 3 months ahead from Holden

When he got my SV8 in he had to basically 'swap' orders with another dealer

I don't think the journos have driven 6.0 yet... but it won't be long

Do you guys and gals think that the dealers will have any flash new info on them as yet?

Hi,

I was at the Holden Dealer today and we got looking through a few updates.
Some of the info I could find was that the VZ 6.0L (L76) will have the Monaro brakes with the calipers unpainted.
The 6.0L will use the 4L60E auto tranmission (you would think the minimum would be the 4L65E, Cost??) and in the SS an Auto only will be available, March is when production of the 6.0L with the 6M will commence.
The start date of the 6.0L/ 6M will be released late in January.
The 6.0L will have 260 KW and 510 NM of torque, but I saw it in black (blue) and white those power and torque figures will only be available with 98 RON, repeat 98RON is used.
It also stated that the 6.0L engine will run on normal fuel if required. (Good knock sensors and timing maps obviously).
I hope some of this news is new.
Cheers.:flip3:

Have I misunderstood your quote, or are you saying that you WONT be able to get a manual in an SS??? I hope thats not the case, would be quite stupid of holden to sell their main sporty model without a stick (and will no doubt make more people buy SV8s!)

Something like 99% of cars sold in Australia are auto's. Hoon cars may be a lesser ratio, but still more popular in Auto I would expect. Holden is doing what the all mighty buck is telling them, significantly more auto sales, therfore the manual will always be an afterthought. I expect manual to be phased out eventually when the 6 speed auto comes along with sequential shifting.

Hi,
The reasons are only known to Holden at this stage, but Holden will be commencing production of the 6.0L 6M in March 06.
Maybe the last 400 CV8Z Monaros used all their 6M's up ???
Cheers.

Muz

the manual will never be phased out by Holden or any other car maker no matter how good their autos become.

some people (like me) still prefer to do things the hard way, and actually be involved in driving the car.

The only thing that Holden has done is restrict the models in which the manual is available. This may, or may not be to their detriment.

I'd rather drive a manual Ford than an automatic Holden. And now I'll go wash my mouth out with soap.
