Hi everyone:wave:

Well let me introduce myself, My name is Ryan I am 20, from Newcastle , still on my red Ps (Yeah I know its sad) and I unfortunatley dont have a job yet.

Well this is my car, its a 86 VL SL 5 speed, not too much done under the bonnet, I keep it as clean as I can.

Alot of Commodore guys would know me as 2LETHL on CT.com and SC.com and I use this nickname on Boostcruising aswell.

C & C would be appreciated, peace all.

Welcome aboard mate, you might want to look at rehosting those pics somewhere else. Haroc has put a how-to guide up in the forum help & feedback section, on how to host them on his server.

Once again welcome aboard, ull find the search button to be your new best friend!!

Dont worry im ripping it out because it doesnt work anymore.

I only had it because it doesnt have a in dash tacho.;)

Also getting rid of the plates, anyone who cruises in the Foreshore has probably seen me in there before.

Mate, screw what I think ! If you like it that's all that matters. Why not shove a Calais dash with tacho into it?

Prob save yourself some $$$$ getting rid of the plates. What's it cost to keep those custom jobbies these days?

I was actually considering getting a Calais dash, i'll see what happens though.

The plates cost well over $400 a year too mate.

I used to have a very similar car

C&C

1) how is you induction set up - is that a pod under that shield? Does it have a sealed CAI feeding it?

2) Tacho dash is easy as piss to fit - you need to change the oil pressure sender to a 'guage' unit (as opposed to a 'light' unit), and oplug it in to the other sender wire taped back, but near the one you are currently using. Then you need to move the location of the oil sender wire in the large plug that goes in the back of the instrument cluster to match that of a calais/berlina etc. Mine was factory tacho, but I helped a friend convert his SL. It was a long time ago so I forget the wire colours. All other extra shit like the lights on indicator light will work automagically.

3) if you havent already, fit turbo front brakes / booster and master cylinder. VN V8 is exactly the same part numbers as well. I got mine from a written off VN SS.

4) personally I odnt like the autobarn looking pedal covers and mostertach - but each to their own :D

5) it cost me $1200 6 or 7 years ago for a new clutch and bearing kit for the 5 speed - so dont frig that up!

its refreshing to see that there are still tidy VL's getting about :)
