Hi All, I am relatively new to the site and loving it, done a multitude of search's but to be honest find it hard to get a straight answer to a couple of questions that I hope you can all help with.

Two cars, one getting cold air OTR induction and custom edit, second, pwr supercharger, billet heads, high lift cam, OTR induction, injectors.

First question. I am wanting a MAF less tune on manual VX SS with tri y headers and B bore, is there any drive ability problems such as hesitation, flatspots and stalling and what kind of torque and KW should it gain, I have been told 750is nm torque and 240RWKW.

Second question. With the work done regarding supercharger (11 p boost), is the standaard block capable of handling an expected 1300nm torque and 430 FWKW without 'breaking'? Obviously clutch would be a concern but what about other driveline components such as diff?

The firm doing the work is very reputable and to be honest seem to be very genuine, honest all all round good guy's. The only concerns I have is due to a friend (one you would consider well knowledged in the industry of standard holdens due to 15+ yrs experiance) who advised of possible 'problems' to encounter such as the OTR air induction having half of the cubic inch intake area as standard. Another is motor not handling that kind of power without mods.

Sorry bout this being a bit longer than I intended but I would really appreciate some advice from those that have these sort of mods and there is an abundant wealth of knowledge present on this forum.

Thanks
Brody

PS. If someone wants to take the time to educate me on dyno's that produce 'generous' figures and what to look for.

What do you mean by 'generous' figures ?

Hey thanks for helping.

I guess over inflated dyno runs from changing conditional adjustments ect.

One of the places (not where I am getting the work done) shows a dyno run with just an edit and cold air with 950 nm torque. Not sure how this can be.

That don't mean NUFFINK unless you have a standard output - preferably lots, from lots of standard engines - to 'benchmark' from

First answer: No. A mafless tune if done properly, will not compromise driveability one bit. In fact it should improve it where it counts (power, torque etc) and improve fuel economy aswell.

Second answer: I have heard of many head/cam packages and PWR blower packages, all running the standard bottom ends and not having any drama's with it. Also the standard diff should be good for 450+ flywheel kilowatts. Clutch however is unlikely to hold on for long.

Third answer: It is very diffucult to reliably measure torque on a chassis dyno due to the many variables that affect torque. ie transmission gear used (the lower the gear the more torque), diff ratio used same deal, tyre diameter etc etc. Don't read anything into the figures, just see with the same vehicle what the gains are from before to after.

Thanks for that.

In regard to the before and after dyno, is there something to watch out for such as air temp, humidity ect that can alter the dyno results.

Good to hear the bottom end is good for that sort of power. Here in NZ we are a bit behind on the whole tweaking LS1 thing but slowly it seems to be taking off. The disadvantage of it being less common is differing 'stories' or rather opinions from various experts but I am confident in the place I am getting the work done.

I, like many others played around with the old 350s (ie HQ's ect) in my youth and have a fair amount to learn about these newer fandangle things but am making some good inroads from this site. I plan to be around for a while if thats OK.

Just quickly, how does one become a 'validated member'?

Cheers
