Who retails these things? My location is Tingalpa so something around the SE Suburbs would be best but can travel anywhere in Bris. As the car is currently being repaired and they will probably be replacing at least one tyre I might just buy a set of 4 and they will be fitted elsewhere.
I'm looking at 245/40/18s with H speed rating. What's a good price?
Thanks

Get em from TTF. To get the best price look up Tempe tyres and then get TTF to price match or better the price. I told em i could get 17's for $125 and they instantly did $119 for me (fitted)
Make sure you road test em afterwards as some are less round than others.... (hey, they are cheapies)

Do not go to The Tyre Factory at Tingalpa. They scratched my rims bad and lost a wheel nut and I have had to go back to have them re-balanced.

whilst not in brissy i got my 235/40/18 for $145ea plus fitting costs which was $10 per tyre from payless tyres in sydney. gives you an idea of what you should be paying anyway.

just got a set of 235/40/18 Nankang NS2 put on my ss ute, $150 per tyre fitted, reckon it's the best price you can get them for in brisbane. It was at wheels xpress/superior tyres ( they go by both names) located in Clontarf, worth the drive, they had the ute in and out within 40 minutes

ahh sh!t ... well thanks for the info fellas da tyre is still in the boot so i guess i wont be putting it on... Funny though someone from the industry said it would be fine but i had to confirm with some more knowledgable people and i also did think the insurance would be an issue.
Thanks again
p.s its only the width of the tyre thats different ... not the diameter ... is that still an issue?

The diameter will be different as the side wall height is worked out by the width. take the number 225 and the next numbers are a percentage that makes the wall height. So if you change the width it can also change the height ( If that makes sense ).
