Sidey, any chance you can you join #ls1 IRC at some point for some housekeeping?

These OPS are MIA and i'd like to be able to add new ones, remove old ones etc. My user level doesnt allow me to do it at this stage. We do get 40+ ppl in there these days so it can be pretty busy.

I was there for the first time last night, didn't say much though

Why would you need to remove old ones? It's not like it slows anything down having them listed?

VooDoo
17-01-2006, 05:42 PM
to make room for new ones. there is a limit to how many you can have. (note i didnt include you Kris, you logged in a few times in 05 :) )

Maybe the ops that were listed can come chat?

Oh and sidey can stay of course :stick:

Just curious, but how many OPS can you have 'Doo??

VooDoo
17-01-2006, 06:39 PM
Ive just been checking, no restriction. can have 1000+ ops if we wanted so no need to delete anyone but i cant add anyone (like yourself) so you can be auto op'ed. Needs to be done manually atm each time you join. The Strict-op's has been removed now too.

How does one get these access permissions?? Does someone "own" the IRC channel??

Sidey owns the channel (level 500). He is the IRC god. Others can have Z access. Haroc has level 399, XLR8_V8 400 and the rest level 100.

vt2vx: thats how long since you logged in.

Don't worry Steve, it really doesn't matter for anything .... go on IRC when you feel like it, or don't ... just doesn't matter.

why do you need op's, people go there to chat.. thats it. nothing more nothing less. in reality you'd need one or two ops. as we are all adult like arn't we...

VooDoo
31-01-2006, 10:37 PM
Some are more adult than others. There are times ppl have been removed from the channel. A few permanantly. Its purposely left unmoderated to a degree. The only reason that i wanted a couple of setting changed was so i could Op the LS1 moderators when they join. Not because they are going to do anything, nor is it even expected that they would if they saw something, its more a matter of respect for their positions with the forum. Haroc is there most of the time and I dont recall him ever kicking anyone, even during some heated/lively conversations.

Hammer
31-01-2006, 10:39 PM
can you access Z bot settings ??? if so use the z feature for autooping by hotname/userid ??? or alternativly seturself up a autobot under your mirc ???

btw hows turbo going ? since you have ignored me on mirc :stick:

VooDoo
31-01-2006, 10:42 PM
Anyone with Z access can. Thats why when i join I get auto op'ed.

All LS1 members are welcome in there, can get very lively at times too.

we have had over 40 ppl in there at once, the more the merrier.

www.mirc.com to get the client
irc.oz.org is the server
type /join #ls1 to enter the channel
easy :)

found a fix mate.

oz.org servers

Traditionally, as servers were added or subtracted to our network the list of servers you could connect to altered accordingly. This system has been changed to allow more flexibility and to ensure you do not have to change your irc client each time we change a server

The following server names will always work:

au.oz.org
aussie.oz.org - Overseas clients can only connect to this server at this time.
irc.oz.org
state.oz.org
where state is the shortened form of your state name
ie: vic, nsw, qld, wa, sa, tas, nt, act
capitalcity.oz.org
You guessed it! The name of your state's capital city
eg: sydney.oz.org

Only those ppl with access to wiax networks can get on. Basic;y Pipe networks server is still up but nothing else. The border router for oz.org was DDos'ed as was part of the WA system. If your on bigpond etc, your screwed for now.

Random Oz.org server seems to be down. manual servers like au.oz.org or sandiego.oz.org seem fine.

Couple of us here but wierd without the "usual suspects".

Dont tell me im going to actually DO something around the house to entertain myself tonight?
