Hi
think i have a pulley going on the VT gen3, its noisy in the morning and goes quiet after warm up, i think its the top one directly above the crank, is this regular on these motors, is it difficult to remove, i dropped the belt off and there seems to be no movement in it!
im guessing its this because it sounds like that general area, not unless my motors about to do, it sounds like a whiney noise becoming louder over past 2 days!

any help from u experts would be great :eyes:

May be it's PS pump, it's common problem though

mine used to do it as well. really high pitched squeel till motor was warm and then silenced out. Was told it may be the belt tensioner, but replaced the belt and noise gone! i would say to look at them first mate!

Does the noise change when you steer side-to-side? Also have you taken the belts off and started the engine? this will confirm that it is an accessory, not the engine. Remember there are 2 belts to take off.

With the belts on, use a long screwdriver or thin rod, put it to your ear and press it on each accessory (p/s pump, water pump, each idler pulley) you will hear which one's noisy. Hopefully it's something simple like a idler pulley bearing (very common on v6 engines). Good luck.

Cheers
