Hi 1st post here guys
longish story I had the car converted to LPG 2 weeks back
the conversion has a 3 way button on the dash for petrol/off/LPG
with symbols on it -ie petrol bowser & LPG cylinder,
then filled the car full with LPG.
anyway been driving around with the button rocked down to the LPG cylinder position & after 220km the motor stopped & I then clicked the button to the up posi , which is for petrol . after some days I went to fill up with LPG & it took just 60 cents worth !!! but everytime I clicked the button down to LPG the motor just turns over & will not fire, so I have been running on petrol until today when I returned it to the original installer,,,, he rings me & comes out with "you have been running on LPG & your petrol fuel pump is not working, thats the problem"[which then means the fuel/button reads reverse to what it's set on ]
this car is a VX 2002 with 56,000km
im having trouble getting my head around this-- when i took it in the car was running faultless on petrol, im not senile & know which way to click a switch & see its pointing to a petrol or LPG emblem
so my questions are , at 56,000k would you think the fuel pump would die
& what type is it , I remember years back they were mechanicle, are they now electric ? & could it possibly get damaged in some way when the conversion took place
thanks for reading this saga
p.s. bear in mind this is a licensed installer , doing these day in day out
I cant believe they could install the button wrongly & would they not after installing ,test with guages or sensors & pick up it was on the wrong fuel v switch position & how co-incidental is it the pump fails at this time
i also believe it starts on petrol & changes over to LPG in 1-2 seconds
its an IMPCO with ELKO tank
thanks
