Howdy
does anyone know for 100% sure where to get some 5.60 15s from.
plenty of peoples have them on their cars but they all seem to not have got them recently etc etc.
surely if the nankangs arent made anymore there is another brand which do stock them, otherwise i guess no new drag cars will ever be built which want to run something other than a mickey thompson or moroso strip only front runner.
thanks

Ring a tyre dealer

I looked up in the white pages for a business called "a tyre dealer" and it wasnt there. I am glad to have you on my side as I wouldnt know where to start looking for tyres had you not helped me
I am open to more productive suggestions.
on a more serious note I have tried all the tyre places who all want to sell michellin 165's. The Nankang 5.60's were available for a short time, and it seems most front runners are from the nankang range when I look at cars around the place. Heres the deal no radials can be used when using bias ply slicks so what the hell will anyone in the future run on the front of their cars if all these cross ply fronts are so unavailable.

What is wrong with Mickey Thompson's or Moroso's, im sure they make em in the size your after. Ive just been looking around for front runners and everyone recommended MT's to me.
What purpose will you be using them for ?

Thanks for the help so far but if I could get out of using the drag strip specific cross plys I would as my lx torana (convo pro 4") will also get taken out on the road.
even antique tyres cant answer when they will ever see another 5.60 15 again.
I know I can get a moroso, mickey thompson, goodyear, hoosier, M+H racemaster etc etc front runner from any of the speedshops I have bought from over the years (mail order interstate and walk in shop)
I am just having a real hard time finding 5.60 or similar cross plys which is just stumping me to death as to how all these newbies to racing, who go out and buy a late model 12 second car basically are frequenting with these fricking rare as rocking horse shi$ tyres.
I think if the gen3 hadnt been invented then all these cars wouldnt have bought the nankangs over the last couple of years, which have now become obsolete, in turn meaning when I went to buy some there would have been plenty!!
its a conspiracy

It sure is ;) ………we’re out there running MT Drag Radials rear with radials up front..No more changing tyres trackside after they have cut the lights  …just an easy cruise from home and roll out into the staging lanes…….with 1.5 sixty foot potential ( and lower )....why would you bother with slick’s on a 12 second car ……..just my view

why go a pair of mickey thompson sportsman fronts, they are a cross ply street tyre that can also be used for the strip.

I would go for mt sportsman pro fronts, but the 26x7.5x15 scares me, I know they say the tread width is 5", but 7.5" sidewall to sidewall sounds awfully wide to me.
almost sounds like a listing almost for a mcreary g60 which I use on the back.

Why dont you just go for m/t radials rear and radial front like the rest of us, then your almost street legal, drive to and from the track no changing them over all the time.
If you do find standard looking cross plys for the front they will be way under the load rating so no good for the street.

Exactly. Plus the fact that you cannot legally use a crossply tyre on a vehicle that wasnt fitted with them. Tyre placard says radials, then its radials only.

I went and checked out the mickey thompson 26x7.5x15 sportsman pro fronts and even though the salesman said they were skinney, they were quite wide when you look at it side by side with a moroso skinney or so.
heres basically what I want, its a cross ply that is skinnier than the m/t sports pro, is ok to drive on the normal road from time to time
anyone know if any of the moroso front runners or hoosier well treaded front runners can be used on the street at all ? (not necessarily dot, but as in the description of the hoosiers saying they are quite firm on the scale of tyre softness range, which I believe means they should be half durable on the street)
sorry if I babble abit, and dont be too afraid of the road legal definitions in your refrence to dot or not tyres as it is an old school street strip car which already dances the line of legality quite well.
thanks in advance

Unless your running 9's you might aswell stick with the radials so you can use it for both, there also much nicer to drive down the 1/4 on....

I have driven on radial front slick back for a long time with a an old car running low 12's and it never had any wander or anything like that so to speak of.
not trying to get pickey but all I want is some old school cross plys, Im a simple man who wants simple things, if they still made the nankangs I'd have never ever raised the issue.
ps I grew up in the days of all the 10 second time bandits in performance street car, and I used to masterbate over the 9 second street car club book religiously, and all these old school cars had everything from olympic airride cross plys to firestones to pneumonts. Just like the lowrider guys want a certain tread old school pattern tyre I just want a cross ply like all the hotties used to roll on in the day.
I know I can run a michellin (and I have a rare pair of the old michellin 135's which are brand new in my shed) along with maybe a m/t radial or the like but I just dont want to, I have enough dosh for a second set of rims for the street with radial skinney and fats, and the other set for moroso d2's and goodyear slicks on the back but all I want is just some cross plys god damn it !
please dont flame, just help a brother out who is caught living "back in the day" :)

yeah they would certainly do if they still can get them, I have had many places who had them on their stock list but when they ring "the supplier" then all goes to shizit when they find out they arent made anymore.
I will pursue it dude thanks.
almost the same price as a drag strip specific tyre which is interesting

Found a pair for you bud, Nankang 5.60 - 15 Nylons
This place has 1 pair, he says they are second hand but they looked brand new to me, if not a little dusty.

nangkang dont make em anymore but i got another supplier with the same thing in cross ply for 140 each. ppl dont use mts as they are twice the price,
I have had luck sourcing crossplys form here for classics
North Terrace Tyres Pty Ltd
55 North Tce
Hackney
They weren't the size you have specified but they should be able to get them for you.
If you want to look at a few different types check this web site out
http://www.antiquetyres.com.au/
They have a very good description of all the older tyre sizes and load ratings. This helped me get the correct tyres for the packard as most were not up to the required load rating.
I dont think neither will be cheap though.
Cheers
