Yes as the title says, just had a call from a mate who happened to be sitting in a coffee shop in Artarmon to tell me I might be interested in a nice red monaro that was out the front of work. He told me that the doors opened out and then up, I thought he was having me on, so I had to check it out for myself, and yes the doors open out and thenup like the lamo's do. I would post a picture or two that I took with the mobile but I am computer illiterate. could anyone help in this matter. Worth a look, nice sounding as well.

I've seen a couple going around. Be careful. There seem to be cheap kits (eBay) and expensive kits. The cheap one, seems not to fit flush, is very flimsy and the door has to be opened very careful and actually needs to be lifted by hand as the struts aren't that good. Also I don't think it raises as high as the expensive kits, so the opening to get in is very small. This kit that I saw up close on this summernats ute (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=48846&highlight=summernats) looked quite good, the opening still isn't the biggest but it wasnt flimsy and didn't need lifting manually.
He told me that the doors opened out and then up, I thought he was having me on, so I had to check it out for myself, and yes the doors open out and thenup like the lamo's do. Phill

I believe there's a black Monaro with KILLR8 plates getting around NSW somewhere that's had those Lambo style doors on it for a while.
Featured in one of the Commodore mags mid 2005 sometime.
Lotta weight to place on one hinge & strut.:werd:

lol looks like some private investigator pictures the way your hiding in the bushes:nyuk: i wonder how these things work in the way of helping you get the doors up/holding the doors up? must be springs i guess. could get nasty in certain situations. heh i would hope they are easy to get out of as you might look like a bit of a belter pullin up and evryones lookin at like woaghh!! and you go to get out and you get a leg caught in that gap and fall on your noggin:)

The car in the pictures looks like STREET owned by Jason Grey the former editor of street commodores .. There was a rumour he was fitting a set of lambodoors ..http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Twin-Turbo-CV8-Monaro-full-custom-100-legal_W0QQitemZ4605733155QQcategoryZ102244QQssPage NameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Wonder how they handle the additional bulk and length of the Monaro doors?, considering the standard hinges are known to suffer from some sagging over time

I don't like them.
One of those mods for the gee wiz brigade. No real technical merit.
BTW would these be ADR compliant? My guess is they would not,but does anyone know for sure?
