Just read the Motor comparison between the Clubbie and the F6. Not a bad write-up at all. I was surprised that HSV didn't test the car they sent over for the test. If they did, then they ought to be pretty disappointed with themselves. According to the mag this particular Clubbie was very tame. Couldn't crack 14 seconds.....
Does anyone else think they (HSV) and Holden are just marking time until the VE arrives?

dont know about your theory about crappy performance and saving it for the VE. :werd:

Probably just the driver not getting the best out of the car.

Well For an LS2 not to run a Sub 14 time is pretty Shithouse, I am sure either they cant drive or that LS2 had Probs.... i am sure we ahve all seen or know of someone who has Piloted a Stock LS2 down in Low 13's.

Not theorizing about crappy performance, just commenting on a lacklustre Clubsport handed over for a comparison test against the F6. In that, HSV are not too concerned about how they go in comparisons with the VE due this year.
Personally, if this is the current thinking, I'd prefer they give the mags the best car they can, not whatever is available.

Yes they said the car just didn't live up to previous Clubbies tested.

I think HSV have done a good job on the Z, I think the VZ Clubsport is the best HSV since the VTII HSV series. I was tempted by one when I bought the Monaro. I have not been a fan of HSVs efforts recently but with a few suspension tweaks and exhaust/edit and they would be an awesome car. Great deals are being done on these cars to.

I think the HSV they tested must have been a dog but the F6 seems to be gaining alot of fans.

Did you read the whole article? It said that a problem with the switch meant that they couldn't turn the traction control off. They explicitly stated that this caused the thing to bog down. They also said that the glitch was so minor that HSV had fixed it within a few minutes of Motor handing the keys back, but by then it was too late.

Don't tell half the story. :shiner:

Things happen, it seems that something as simple as a faulty switch has affected this outcome to a great extent.

Also remember that these cars are the ones that get hammered by every test-pilot throughout the media realm.

Magazines are good reference sources, but if you're in the market then you HAVE to give the contenders a run for yourself.

I reckon the Turbo 6 Fowlcans do look the goods, but I still reckon HSV has the slight edge. MY opinion only of course.

Perhaps we read different articles.........
MOTOR Magazine Feb 2006 Issue? I've reread that thing 3 times now and still can't find any reference to a faulty switch. Suggestions of variability in LS2 motors...Yes. Didn't want to rev above 5000rpm......Yes. Faulty traction control switch......still looking. Which page?
And all that aside - that just goes further to my point....if indeed it was the reason.

Yeah, sorry about that. Just got home & looked in the magazine to verify it. Wrong article. Wrong magazine for that matter.

Sorry.

Interesting about Motor's comments regarding the clubbie not pulling beyond 5000 rpm, that's most certainly not my experience. I've done a run in the high 13's over the 1/4 on a closed public road with very course chip tarseal.... and traction control ON....

Cheers,
Gordie

Ive done a 13.5 std with exhaust only in 30 degree heat and with me only running an M6 twice down the 1/4 with a 2.2 60footer. I still reckon i could get a flat 13 out of it in cooler conditions or with more practice as traction is an issue on launch.

i reckon with edit and otrcai the LS2 could be good for mid 12s no dramas.

If motor cant get in the 13s with there drivers something must have been wrong with car as they would have to drive better than me.

For those that haven't read the Motor Feb '06 article, Clubby was an M6 and FPVF6 was the ZFA6....

I feel in the Right Weather and a 1.9 60footer (possible from a stocka ) that there is a Sub 13 second pass with some Practice. Now get out there and prove me RIGHT:headbang:
