2001 VX GTS 300 with 20k on the clock. Asking
price is 40k. Had a quick look at it tonight and
it looks immaculate. Redbook says that 40k is
fairly low for this vehicle, especially considering
the k's. Was after an educated personal opinion,
on what you would pay for one of these in a yard?
Cheapest one I found on carsales for 47k and
one :clown: asking 61k.

Mate, I'd buy it if I was in the market at present.

It's a lot of car for the $$$$. IMO.

I've recently seen b/w $40 - $60 on Carsales, so with 20ks on board, I reckon she's a goer. :driving:

Macca

Yes, it's a lot of car for the money, but that's all it's worth, if that, in the current climate. Sales are VERY VERY slow at the moment, & I'd almost guarantee that very few GENUINE enquiries for the car have been received, so if some-one fronts up with 40 large, the owner will probably be very happy, & if that's the asking price, then there's probably a bit of "negotiation" there as well.
Cheers, Pickles.

It has been sitting there for around 4 months now.
The brake discs have quite a coating of rust on them,
heavy rust, not just a light stain like you get after
washing your car and not driving it straight away.
Doesn't look like it have been driven for quite a while.

auto or manual, if its a manual jump at it.

The rust might suggest its been a sunday driver that just hasn't seen a sunday for a while and not that they can't move the car. Although if it has been for sale for 4 months, then I would be offering between the $35-$38k mark. $2k off isn't that hard to acheive when paying that money for a car.

Manual or Auto? Leather or Cloth?

Still I beleive this is a good price....

It is a M6 and cloth interior, so no leather :(
I have been weighing up the pro's and cons
of trading my VT2 SS on this thing and came
up with the following:
Pro's:
I love the GTS and love the colour (it's the HSV Green)

Cons:
Wife hates the colour, but say's if you really want it,
that doesn't matter. Only catch is, I can't use some
of our cash to make the difference between whatever
they give me for the SS and what I pay for the GTS,
so I would have to go into debt again to get it
(I think she knew that would deter me) :(
The other thing is that I know my car and know it
is in top condition. It uses no oil and after 85k has
given me no problems whatsoever since warranty
expired. What's the chance I could be buying into
problems with the new LS1, bit of an unknown really.
Is this car really 20+k better than my SS, considering
mine has full exhaust/edit, new 18 inch rims, lowered
with short dampers and various other mods.
Geez, I must have driven past this thing a thousand
time in the last 4 months, but yesterday we were out
walking the dog and I just had to stop and have a
proper look didn't I

It's not Craig's is it? If it doesn't look like it's been washed in 2 years, it could very well be!

I can honestly say I love my VX GTS in Racing Green except the fuel bill as I need to get an edit done but can't afford to take it to Melbourne yet to get it done.
Just remember that only 287 GTS's were made and they had an RRP price of $91,250 (Or so the bit of paper from HSV tells me).
These are a great car but remember if you can't lock it up in a garage or something this colour shows the dirt well but looks awesome when it is nice and clean.

Let us know how you go ;)

whichever way you look at it 40k is a lot to pay for a 5year old holden. If yours is still in excellent condition and your still enjoying it,in my opinion consider to do so.With the ve around the corner and the vz dropping in price you will pick up something a lot newer for that dollar value in the next year or 2.Meanwhile the vx will just keep getting older.
But if thats your dream car and represents value to yourself then who am i to argue.

Thanks for all the replies fella's, some good feedback
as I knew it would be. I have decided to stick with
the trusty old SS (mainly due to the wife asking all
day how could you go from that beautiful black to
that vomit green lol). So now that I haven't spent
all that money upgrading to HSV, time for some
more mods I think :bravo:
Thanks again all, and mods feel free to close this
thread now.

Funny you say that. I was convinced at the start of the day that the GTS was the best way to go, but after reading all of the advice I was about to say stick to the SS.

Good work guys, come good clean advice there.

I think its the best thing. I have a Clubby in the "vomit green" and I love it. Absolutely sweet as when clean, and terrible when dirty.

You can have mine for $33k. (see I really want to keep it  )

I don't think it's vomit, I had a Charger in Amazon
green, a little darker than the HSV green, but I
loved that car and the colour

Definitely a good colour (even looks good on BA XR8s...adds a touch of class IMO), but I think you made the right choice sticking with the SS.

I've had similar thoughts about selling my VX Calais and upgrading to a VY/VZ Calais...but when I think about it sensibly, there's no point. The VX is a perfectly good car, quicker than any stock VY/VZ Calais I could buy, and it owes a lot less. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.
