Howdy,

I've been searching for any posts of who may have seen this but looks like so far I'm on my own.

The first time it happened I dismissed it as me imagining it. When it happened again tonight, I knew I definiately saw it happen, so no tricks being played on my eyes. This is the second time in 3 months since I've had the car.

So this is the weird bit - after starting up the car as per normal, as I change the A4 from Park to Drive - the right indicator flashed once?????

I don't get it. And no, my hand didn't bump the indicator stalk as I was selecting gear.

How am I sure I saw it flash? I was parked in a covered carpark next to a white support pylon and definately saw the reflection from the side indicator on the drivers side. So it did flash once on the right side of the car. The right dash indicator flashed also.

Did the left side flash? Can't tell, if it did I didn't see it.

I've had a quick flick of the manual and looked at alarm codes etc but didn't find anything that describes the behaviour.

Any one have this happen to them? Any thoughts on what it is?

Cheers,

pacer

I had a strange happening too when I went from park to drive, my 14 year old picked it up 1st, but now I see it too. When changing, the speedo goes up to 100 kph and bounces back to zero, but not all the time, only sometimes.

Have a look in the manual I think there is an option when setting modes to either automatically lock doors when engaging drive and/or hazard lights flashing.

This could be what is happening.

Lock doors yes, flash lights no.

Sound like a bad earth. I watched a BA Falson Ute drive down the M1 with the indicators flshing evey time he hit a bump. He then turned his lights off and it stopped....

04Munro, I think the auto door lock option allows you to select either hazard lights flash or short sound of the horn, when selecting Drive (or Reverse).

The post from "Nervous" is correct. There is an option to flash indicators when doors lock.

Think ur wrong.....indicators flash when the doors lock or unlock via the remote key also can enable the beeps of the horn, when engaging drive there is an option to lock the doors not flash the lights or sound the horn.

Time to read your manual again.

the problem with your car is related to pcm/ trans control module and the
comunication between the 2 i have 8 auto vz hsv's that i have seen with this problem have spoken to hsv about this concern they do not have a fix at this stage also after speaking to mark at powertorque about this he has found that in cars that do this the ECU does not register that the car is an auto
does not seem to effect any thing else in the cars and and only 1 of the 8 customers have spotted it. Its more noticable if the handbrake is on as it will sound the alarm.

Thanks Funk for your reply, had me stuffed for a while, what you say does make sense. I will try it with the handbrake off and see how we go...
