I had 3.9s in an A4 VS and I thought it a tad high for highway driving (ie: 110Kph+), although the take off was sensational.
IMO 3.73s for you.

i've got 3.73's fitted wa diff centre did mine combined with the delco CHIPMASTER mafless tune makes for a nice combination and gets good fuel economy does about 2250rpm at 100k's the going rate i found when calling around for prices was 1250 bang for buck the diff gears are well worth it IMO...

Certainly is ..and quickly becoming a popular choice with M6 drivers
That also includes a growing number of A4 drivers given the chance to actually get behind the wheel of a well sorted combo....try a test drive..there would be many who are in for a most pleasant surprise imho
Just one word of caution...unless you wear red fannel shirts 24 / 7 , are deaf as a door post and own shares in a tyre factory keep well clear of the Locker variety for every day street use..imho

3.43's if economy is a primary focus , 3.73's if more racy driving style , good exhaust system and a tune is all you need , nice well proven path

Depends what you want to use the car for. For an A4, to improve all round driveability, I'd recommend 3.46. Friend of mine had 3.7s in his A4 Monaro, & said it was just too low, but would be super an an M6. So my recommendation would be 3.46 for an A4.
Cheers, Pickles.

I went for the 3.73 (A4) and am quite happy, get good track times considering i'm not that great a driver, and is fine on the freeway. See what Dan at chipmaster has available, he did mine and a speedo recalibration at the same time. Very happy with his work.

I was told by diff place in Adelaide that highest ratio was 3.91, I'm interested in 411's though if it's true...

As have I, but not in the original housing.
Been rumours of someone making them for the 80 series housings for a while but still havn't had it confirmed that it will actually become a reality.
4.11's in an auto are the bee's knee's - and the revs are stuff all more than 3.9's or 3.7's anyway (2250 ish @ 100kmh).
Add a Kaaz to the equation and it's the ultimate in cotrollable fun. :burnout: :burnout:

Yeah, Clint (top bloke) at Hart's did my 4.11's as well on my A4 ute after seeing Markone2's (another top bloke) car and his recommendation.
The result (with a good tune)....quite frankly the best bloody drive ever mate for both track work and on the road!!!!
I love the instant acceleration at all speeds.
I also cruise up and down the highway each day to and from work. Bugger all difference in petrol if the cars tuned right I think. It's my daily drive as well as track attack car since the Monaro has been put into limited retirement.
Do the 4.11's mate - you wont be sorry.....just grinning:D :D :D
Cheers,

I did 3.46 in my VZA4 and initially wished I went to a 3.73 or more. But since moving to Redcliffe I have found myself driving regularly to Gympie, Hervey Bay and Maryborough. 3.46 is perfect for regular long distance stuff. I would be concerned with anything shorter. If you don't head onto the motorway all that much then get yourself something that'll launch harder - I know I would.

Just got off the phone to Clint, I think he will be sending me a diff centre before we know it. It takes him about 4 days to a week to get everything together. All I have to do is organise freight.....:bounce:
$1100.00 exchange, I'm happy with that...:bravo:

With the 3.46's in the rear end, what is your cruising rpm and fuel consumption? I am also considering doing the 3.46's but am worried as I do a lot of highway driving etc.

I put 3.9s in my vzss auto and rpm at 100 was around 2200 which when driving on hwy i think wasnt to bad. Fuel increase was about 1l be 100klms thats all. If doing alot of hwy i would go 3.7s

4.11 1438 1677 1917 2157 2396 2636 2876
Diif ratio ...% increase over stock 3.07 ...... % increase over previous diff ratio
3.07 .................... 0.0% ........................... 0.0%
3.46 .................. 12.7% ........................... 12.7%
3.73 .................. 21.5% ........................... 7.8%
3.91 .................. 27.4% .............................4.8%
4.11 .................. 33.9% ............................ 5.1%
For reference
% increase of 4.11 over 3.73
10.2%
Note: This is less than the increase from 3.07 to 3.46
The point of this is that as Delco says, there is a real appreciable increase in Torque going from 3.07 to 3.46, more than from going from 3.73 to 4.11. However, clearly some drivers are not happy with that increase, ie 3.46 is just not enough. Remember however, that going to 3.73 is only 7.8% more Torque than 3.46 so that is why a lot of drivers seem to want to go to 3.91. it all depends if you want a street light racer.
Also I guess this is why Markone 2 (The Oracle) went to 4.11 they are only 5.1% more than 3.91 so why not go the whole hog.
Everyone has to decide where in of this they sit!!
