Hi All
Just hoping if anyone in Perth can point out options for having a VT SS II serviced. I have tried a number of Holden service centres and had problems with all of them. Any recommendations?
Also, my dash is showing engine, oil, abs, airbag.... warnings every now and then. Searching the forum points to earthing and/or the abs module being the cause. My question... is Holden the only place to have the error codes read?
Thanks in advance.
Tim Slako in Os Park has people on here that swear by him also LAC (Leederville Auto Care) Ask for Mitch. You have seen the light to stay away from Holden. Got to love Labour charged out @ $60 per hour when a $8.50 per hour apprentice is working on your car.
Mate, your best bet is to take your car to either Chipmaster or WA Performance & Service Centre. These guys are both sponsors on here and will look after you very well.
Both of them also have the tools required to read error codes off your cars PCM, clear them and repair whatever needs to be repaired when the problem is identified.
I suggest checking them out

Take it to LAC , we dont as yet do general servicing , we specialise in Performance tuning and modifications .
Cant be a specialist at everything.

I personally cant speak highly enough of the team at WA Performance & Service Centre ( 08 ) 9388-0250. All my performance mods and general servicing is carried out by them at the right price and always on time.
Whats more, though others may offer it, I find there level of honesty and advice to be truly down to earth and not driven by the hunger of making a quick dollar.
Give them a try, its truely worth it.

Sorry buddy can't point you in the right direction for the service.
However I would hazzard a guess that all those lights your getting on your dash will be your ABS control module.
I had exactly the same thing happen to me last month or so...
Got it checked out and had it replaced and all is fine since! (VTII SS A4)
When having the codes read at holden, the tech said that when it is the module no actual code is given, but they are pretty common.
It flashed all the lights on and played a tune while he was looking at it and he said yeah its the module.
Hope you get it all sorted

Thanks for the prompt replies. Very helpful.
I'm going to give the guys at WA Performance & Service Centre a go. You wouldn't believe me if I told you I literally live around the corner from a holden dealership... Having this so called "luxury" has cost me plenty of unnecessary $$$ and trips back within minutes of driving the car out of the carpark. Apparently their definition of a "test drive" involves driving the car from inside the garage to the car park 10m away.
One thing for Ash... the abs module, what am I looking at in $$$.
And while I've got you all here.. rear main leak on my SS. I've been avoiding the problem for far too long. I'm guessing the labour involved will make it an expensive fix. Any thoughts?
Cheers all. Thanks again.

fix the rear main leak when the engine is out getting the cam done , it should only be a extra $30 labour at that time.

Mate shop around on the price, I was quoted anywhere around 6, 7, 800 bucks...
I ended up paying around 600 I think.
As for labuor to fit, not sure yet havent got the invoice
(friend fitted it during service and is posting the bill)
I would say you would be able to get one supplied and fitted for around $800 all up.
Its annoying when you spend that much money on something and dont go any faster.
Since I have had my car I have replaced:
the cats - $600
Water pump - $500 all up fitting it my self
and now this module... - better part of $800
All that money spent in 9 months and no faster !!!!!
:nopity:
oh well these things happen.
Good luck

Hi Guys, I was told that it is a common problem on VT's for the ABS module to go by my Holden Dealership. They advise me that they replace about 2 per week. The Service Rep also advised me that there is someone that actually repairs them as well and I am looking into it. I was quoted $550 plus installation of about $60. If I eventually find someone that can repair them I will let you guys know as it will prob be alot cheaper option. The problem will prob be a dried solder joint that also affects other makes as well. My friend owns a Volvo 850R and he had the same problem. He pulley it apart and fixed the dry solder joint and is all ok now. Been a couple of years since he has done it. Again if I find anything I def let you guys know.
