My vote goes to the ball bearing turbo!! :yup:

That's an impressive but simple demonstration.

Not having much experience with turbos myself, I'm wondering - do the ball bearings need lubrication or wear out in that style of turbo? If so, how often do they need maintenance or replacement? (have searched, but couldn't find answers to this).. Any responses appreciated.

You need to change the oil more often no more than 5000k's (saying that I do that with my N/A motor anyway) and turbo timers are a must not just a rice option if you want it to last.

Turbo timers are a must not just a rice option if you want it to last.

Turbo timers are dangerous and VERY illegal for a reason! For example. What happens if a car catches fire on a dyno or the street?..... U kill the key but the timer keeps the pumps flowing :lmao:. Trust me that would be a good way to burn your car to the ground....
There is absolutley no need with todays watercooled cores and a bit of common sense. Just drive slow for the last block if ya been thrashing it. Ive owned 5 Turbo cars and never had any issues with switching them straight off. And that goes for everyone I know with turbo cars aswell ;)
