Check out the Motor show in melbourne this week and next week.
There is a Police display with the new VZ sedans, normal sedans, unmarked sedans and the Crewman Divisional Vans.
The vans are pretty cool for a Police car. Probably one of the best designed cars around for Police use. :hmmm:

I'm tipping it'll be a PR car that sits at the VPC for most of it's life.
It'll also be seen around during the Commonwealth Games, "Flying the Flag," no doubt.

Yeah, you can't really chant "You're going home in the back of a Monaro" at a drunk being escorted out of the MCG during the Comm Games. You'd make the guy feel great.

Yeah, the QLD police have it right -> here (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50642)
Simple white checkers over Turismo would have looked better.

good to see we can see where our taxes are spent "O SO WISELY ON....."
rather than fix up roads n shit, they do airbrushing on a pig chaser ....

Hammer, the police would not have payed for that, Holden would have supplied the vehicle and graphics.
Even if the Police did pay for the graphics, It would have been in the budget.
Maybe people should look at other govt deptments and see how much money they waste before having a go at the cops all the time.

fairly nuff... but it would be good to see some more money gone into better roads... so how come cops are going back to v8's again, i recall a few yrs back they canned all the v8 pursuits etc because of high speed crashes ????

It was only ever WA that stripped the Police of the V8s.
And the talk is that might be bringing them back.

Not sure where you've been, but Vic has never been V8'less VL turbo days were the only time VicPol didnt have V8's in the lineup.

Yep 100% on the money, Vic Police have had V8 Commodores since the early 80s, only exceptions being VL turbo and Fowlcan 351s.
This Munro and the Queensland ones would, I am 99.9% certain, have been freebie PR jobs for GMH.
Just like the yellow GTO that the Melbourne lads had a few years back.

saw it at the motorshow today.... didn't look too bad.... a bit sneaky with where they mount the radar unit tho, right in front of the lightbar so you can't see it.....
couldn't spot where they hide it on the black xr8 tho.

I asked at the motor show and the bloke told me that the Monaro is purely for the Commonwelath Games and thats it.
The Monaro will not see "operational duty" was the reply.
Cool car though.
Is it just me or was the Melb motor show really really crap this year??
thoughts?

The cop on saturday said it will be operational, and not just for the games.... Seems they don't know themselves.
Yes, it was crap. Haven't been to another MMS to compare, but Sydney is a lot better.

Of course the PR bloke said that. Your next question should have been, "How many crooks have you locked up in the past six months?"
Undoubtedly, the answer would have been, "None."
