You sir, have created my personal dream car! Lowered black Calais with sunroof riding on VY GTS rims has been an object of my desire for some time.

Class + an aggressive stance.

Love your work! :headbang:

Perfect... exactly how I would have it if I owned a calais. Maybe just bigger brakes tho :yup:

Thanks guys, got the suspension from Starr performance, Koni Yellow adj front and Bilstein rear shocks sitting on super low front and ultra low king's rear. Had some problems with a Noltec radius rod bush kit so I went with new factory bushes and car is ok now.

Just deciding on where to get the work down, have narrowed it down to Autotechnique, CSV or G&D. Currently has a Redback 2.5 twin system but still doesn't sound as good as the Remus race system I had on my VTSS.

What type of cam do you recommend?

The brakes are actually DBA 4000 330mm discs (front) and rears are VZ Monaro's, but with the 19's they still look tiny!!

Love your ride mate!!! Very sharp :driving:

What calipers are they on the front? Did you use DBA4000 with a standard painted caliper?

Thanks, as far as I know they are standard. I got them with the rotors as a package they were wrapped with a sticker saying PBR sports caliper and they came with the caliper adaptor brackets already fitted and already painted in red with PBR logo on the caliper.

They're standard VY Calais headlights so mayby try NVU or Holden spare parts / wreckers?

Thanks for the comments, still deciding on what to do next

Just a quick update have fitted a Remus race / powersound exhaust, pacemaker tri-y's and 3.73's (these went in yesterday), I really need the edit now as the gear changes are all over the place, will post up results when I get this done in the next few weeks.

vtssgeniii
10-04-2006, 04:42 PM
Finally got the edit done today, the car is just so much better now and the shifts in power mode are unreal as I found out gunning it out of a corner and going a little sideways as it chirped into 2nd:woohoo: , will be going a cam and high stall package in a month, anyway here's the results:

The host server (Haroc's) has temporarily exceeded bandwidth quota. It should be back up again after the end of the month. One of the reasons for this was people once again breached his server rules and posted up LARGE pics and videos :nono: which blew out the quota ... another reason is people directly hyperlinking to the pics hosted on his server and posting them on other forums.

I just love black cars, I sort of had 1 (panther mica VS clubbie) & I had a real love hate relationship with it. I loved it when I had just washed & detailed it, but 10 mins later when I had not even left the driveway I would come out & see the fine layer of dust already settling on it. But all that aside that is 1 phat ride, cheers :D

Got the car back from Autotechnique, now with the 216 224 114LSA cam and the 2200 high stall to suit, I've now got 246RWKW, only restriciton now is the std airbox, will be going with a sealed pod setup and changing to a maffless tune next weekend which should see it up at least 10-15KW as they said with the airbox open it had an extra 10 at the wheels.

Car has a nice idle now and after getting used to the high stall the car is so much smoother to drive and has a lot more midrange power.

Was contemplating an OTRCAI but concerned about how quickly it would get dirty and full of water especially now that you can only use high pressure cleaners to wash the car with.

A little of topic, For ****'s sake!!! If I have to suffer because of a select few can't follow friggin simple rules I won't be happy :soap: . I'm surprised Haroc hasn't just dumped the whole thing..STOP! abusing the dam system, :flipoff: we are all bloody lucky it's free and he still keeps it up and running..

Anyway that off my chest, beautiful ride bud you haven't stuffed around when it comes to the mods :bravo: mmm Calais I may be a tad bias :bounce:

Should be picking up the car tomorrow from Mario, decided to get the auto rebuilt, Mario has sent it to Dave at RVO who will be setting it up as a stage 2. Got fed up with the flaring between 2-3 shifts and it will be run up on the dyno and shift points adjusted again, can't wait to pick it up.

Picked up the car tonight around 6.30, was running late due to traffic on the Monash plus had to drive from North Western suburbs (1.5hr drive) but it was all worth it in the end.

The car feels much better when moving through the gears, 1-2 shift is very firm, 2-3 firm, shift points etc were all upped by Mario and he found out that my idling issues were due to a cross threaded O2 sensor that had fouled up as a result when the exhaust place had fitted my extractors, car was idling up and down a bit when crawling and in reverse due the O2 sensor. He also upped some other settings as he said he had to wind back some settings previously due to the auto flaring between 2-3 on the dyno and on the road.

The car feels totally different now and when I gave it a little squirt after going past a roundabout the 1-2 change is no longer a little chirp but a scary attempt to gain traction:thumbsup:

I believe the sealed pod setup (I think it's a G&D setup) has also made a difference from the usual MCAI with 2 hole mod.

Mario will be posting me out the dyno results as he had to stay back due to me rocking up late but I can't thank him enough for his patience, excellent customer service and fantastic work in transforming the Calais from your run of the mill edited LS1 to a car I'll now always look forward to driving. Also a big thanks to Dave at RVO who took his time in listening to what I wanted and providing some great advise.
