Just after some info from other ute owners who have been in the same position as me.
I have some lovells super low springs in the maloo with the stock shockies and i want to know if a decent set of short stroke shocks will improve comfort levels(small bumps, sharp edges etc.) while still retaining the nice handling?

pedders have quoted me $872 for 2 Gas sports ryders for the back, 2 GSR sealed struts for the front which includes fitting and wheel allignment. im not after spending thousands on my suspension(although id like too!) just after a nicer setup than what i have now. im gettin tired of feeling those sharp edged bumps go all through the car:(
if anyones been through this before any opinions/advice would be great.

I love those little bumps!!! :nyuk:

Seriously though, my personal preference would not to use Pedders. If you're gonna spend that much money, go for something a bit better IMHO. Been a while since I've upgraded shocks, and I'm about due to do the same in my ute, but last time I used Koni adjustables and found them fantastic.

i agree DONT USE PEDDERS. they did my ute and still have problems, front spring have saged 15mm on top of the 30mm the springs had lowed it. but great for handling, when i go up sloped gutters the other front lifts off the ground. from what i was told they would have to put in coilover struts in the front so i could get a good ride height.

does anyone know if the rear shocks are the same for both the utes and sedan's? Apart being IRS is that all they share in common?

I'm also planning on doing the complete suspension setup on my ute over the next month, while i dont need to use it for work now.

Looking at as a minimum to replace front struts, rear shocks, put nolathane bushes etc in. Anyone fitted a larger swaybar for the commies? does it require lifting the engine etc? as my engine will be out for abit, thought it best to do it then.

Not a ute I know but I was told utes and sedans have the same suspension by the place I got all the gear from. Have just put Kings superlows all round and Dura sport shortened struts in front, KYB on rear.

Doesn't jar anywhere near as much on sharp bumps as it did with FE2. Contact GSA who are up there in Qld.

yeah thats just one of the stories i have heard from them up there, my father works in the industry up there. Just some of the stuff he comes out with about pedders isn't good.

At the moment, I have done any cost analysis. I'm temped to get the ute setup for track work rather then drag.

Once i have the cash i'll probably contact the likes of Starr performance etc to see what sort of suspension parts they do and contact a few local suspension places.

I pick up my front and rear suspension second hand and It was still like new.
It's a VY ute with the King ProSport coilovers front and ProSport shockes rear matched up to VS irs HD superlows which are the same as the VY ultra lows.
That came in a $900 and then I added the Whiteline 30mm front swaybar which does require the K-frame to be dropped to fit it.
After that I added the noltec 4 point rear camber kit to help with rear tyre wear. It's firm but still comfortable on a smooth to changing surface. Kicks around a bit on very rough roads so could be better in that area.
Coil overs sometimes require servicing with a bearing kit when they get noisey over slow changing surface is the only real drawback.

Cheers

I also have a query regarding ute suspension and think this is the best place to ask.
Have checked other threads and cant really see a definite answer.
Im pretty sure they will fit but, here goes just in case.

Will rear springs from a VU ute fit into a VY ute???
I have a bloke willing to sell me some rear FE2 from a VU realley cheap!!
If someone can help, i would be stoked....

Cheers and thanks

Yes, vu, same as vy mate. Purely cosmetic changes etc.

Also, ute and sedan the same I was told. Really cheap = $20 per pair or less. Lots of people have tried selling FE2 on here for $100 all round and from what I have seen nobody buys them. Similar on eBay.
