Can anyone tell me how if I can work out from the VIN number what build number my Monaro CV8Z is out of the batch of 1600?

It would be interesting to know....

Thanks!

Howdy Zac- Not sure how to work that out but I am sure I have one of the very first ones off the line. My car is plated August 05. It was ordered on the 28th of July 05 and I took delivery on 26th August 05. It was the first CV8Z ordered and delivered by Penfold Holden at Burwood (Melbourne). Are there any other Z owners out there with August 05 cars and if so what date did you take delivery?
Happy Cruzin.

Except for the last one with it's unique VIN "tag" number, CV8Z's were built with non sequential VINS, as in mixed around with normal Commodores, Statesmans etc. They weren't numbered in any way, so you'd need a list of all the CV8Z VINS, and have to figure it out yourself, if it's at all possible to source that list.

Holden would know though, wouldn't they? Maybe a call to them could pay off.

holden might, but they mightnt release it.

The Chassis number (build number) is the last few digits, normally the last 6, 7 or 8 digits on the VIN. Dunno about holden but some manufacturers put them after a letter (which means something), ie A0025633 means built in Australia, and it was the 25 633 car off the line. As davo said though, Ive been told they were mixed with other Holden variants as well

thats rediculous, when having a limited run like that they should number, them, it gives the car a personal touch and makes the owner feel more special.

ahh, you'd be confusing Holden with HSV, if you want a build number buy a real car :stick:

could always buy a stupid mans car that needs to have the build number on a little plaque on the center console (ahm FPV rings a bell) just so youve got something to brag about when I'm sitting in the passenger seat whinging that the exhaust note isnt loud enough, the starter button looks stupid, the tissues have run out and the cars too slow
