Guys & Gals...time to put your thinking caps on. We have decided to revamp the post count categories with something a little more exciting. We thought we would put this idea forward for everyone to offer suggestions.


We need names for the current Categories, Any suggestions??

I prefer Mod assigned or special award titles to members that contribute to the forum in useful or different ways

I'm with NRD80Y and SSBarney, who really cares about the number of posts you have made :bravo: If anything bring back the feedback/reputation function and leave the titles as they are.

Surely the time could be better spent tweaking some of the other features of the forum rather than useless post count titles.

Personally, i'd say remove the titles completely. Just because someone spams more than someone else doesnt mean they have contributed more.

If anything, do that or leave them as they are.

The requirements for these new titles will be no different to the current ones ... i.e. Posts in the Tech sections are the ones that count. People posting jokes etc in the Forum Bar will see the same title for a very long time as those don't count at all.
The only reason for the change is that some people find that the current ones are a bit negative, saying that they haven't contributed.

I doubt the repuation function will make a return as it was being heavily abused by a few members.

In addition to the "set" categories what about letting the validated members pick their own title (like the mod's one offs)?

Of course there should be a small fee for this service, and acceptance by the mods to keep the tone out of the gutter........

A possible idea for us validated types that would like to assist with forum costs but presently have no way of doing so (unless you have a business where sponsorship would be relevant)

On a serious note. I think if we're going to have a system like this then we should avoid things like 'heads and cam" etc or car makes or power outputs as it confuses things. A simple rating system would be best. A variation of the current one for example. What about just dots or stars or something (or as that too kindergarten?)

There's a certain level of elitism involved when there's a restriction on whether you can have an avatar, or access others public profiles or even use the PM function! By attaching a rating system that lessens the usefulness of the forum for moderate posters seems counterproductive.

I understand where your coming from, we (Mods) know that the 10 post rule for PM's aint the best rule, however it is required until we cant find a more "elegant" solution to fix the problem. Please bear with us on this one!

That being said, maybe a poll needs to be conducted with categories of
a: No message at all
b: stay as is
c: a changed post count title (to be decided later)
d: paid supporters status (can of worms that one)

just throwing ideas around
