Hey everyone, what do you think the VE Ute and Crewman will look like and have over the VZ? I can't wait for it to come out and see the differences. I've seen in pics that the VE has pumped up wheel arches and it looks to me that all models may have the fake side vents -they do look awesome! I'm interested to know if they will make the back seat of the Crewboy a tad more comfortable-bloody hope so. The back seat in the present crewman is hopeless. Tell me what u think...

I hope they make the rear seat more comfortable too - mind you my kids have not complained about it in the 2 years I have had it. I would like to see it with a 6 litre/6 speed auto combo, retain the live rear axle setup ( so far have got 60K kms out of the original tyres - not easy to achieve with irs), put a brake light above the rear window like on the other utes, and for christsakes put in twin exhaust system on it as standard fit. Then I'll be happy to trade in my current crewman for a ve.

I'm thinking the best bet will be to go for a "Last Cross8 Ever Made" VZ series 2 with L76 (in white). I'm not expecting a Crewman/Adventra/Cross8 in the VE range.
Only dillema is whether to trade my VY Cross8 or become a "2 x AWD Holden" family.

to my knowledge, the ute is a certainty but as yet has not been approved for production, don't expect realease until around-2008, and the Crewman/Cross8 won't live past the VZ range...

The Crewie SS is the best vehicle in terms of fitness for purpose that I have ever had. Holden have a real chance to get the design right and also fix quality control issues if they build the VE Crewie - a real opportunity to really establish the niche market they created. There are quite a few of them coming onto the road at the moment through the SSZ promotion. They dont need an extra 30cm in the cabin, only about 12-15cm plus a bit more lay back which could be achieved by not having the bugger sit so high at the back. Also dont reduce the size of the tray as it is bigger (by eye) than the Hilux and maybe even the Nissan product. There are a lot of people out there with kids and a family who want a ute but not a bloody truck. The other thing is dont make customers wait over 8 months to get the current years model out into the market.
If they dont bring out the VE version it will be a case of buy the last VZ (Series 19) with the 6.0litre V8 and go the whole hog with one of the forced induction mods etc. :burnout:

I got 45k out of mine (Turanza ER30) before I swapped to 18's. Probably another 5k left on them. Maybe a little less right foot than yourself ;)

A slightly larger rear passenger section would be nice (even though noone has complained), it's the most practicle vehicle I've ever owned.
I got 65,000 km's out of my original tyres, I,ve got 90,000km's on it now and still have probably 50,000 left on the original brake pads.
It is an almost 100% certainty that there will not be a VE Crewman. VE Ute and Wagon have been partially developed and there are designs for them floating around but they haven''t 'officially' got the green light yet, just awaiting some formalities. Both are due late 07/early 08.

You will never see a Zeta Commodore based Crewman, Adventra Wagon or One Tonner. Their dead. :(

Just means that Holden will lose a lot of sales to whoever brings out a crewcab thats closer to a car than a truck - specially if it has aV8!!!!!!!:cussing:

All the Crewman ever did was cut into Rodeo sales, while creating only a few extra sales for Holden.
I always thought the Crewman was a waste of time, although I did expect the One Tonner to be a bit more of a success than it was.

Heres a quick and dirty chop. Using my edited Motor photo, with a ute rear end. Its rough but you get the idea.

I'll be very interested to see the new VE when it's released properly (no more chops/artists impressions), because at the moment its looking very much BA front with 380/Audi door skins.
