Did anyone see Friday's Herald Sun article on the VE?
They praised it big time and predicted it would be the biggest most important release in 2006.
Not only that, but they indicated it would be the saviour of the Aussie big car and would spearhead it's revival in the showrooms.
The pressure is well and truly on.

As the largest car manufacturer in Australia and with a whole new platform, Holdens VE was always going to be the biggest most important release in 2006. Sales of big Aussie cars have slowed but the new model will give it a kick along..for a little while at least.

Funny, you'd swear we've heard that before not too long ago. The number 379 (or close to that) rings a bell.... I can't wait for VE release, it will be just in time for me to buy a runout VZ series II, sorry, VZ MY06 :jester:
Hi MAVSS,
Don't forget that Holden's Head Orifice is in Melbourne . . . and Mexican's ALWAYS wear BIG hats. You read the Herald Sun? Ooops! Apologies there mate! :stick:
I hope the VE turns out well. My main concerns are extra weight, extra fuel consumption, and even less nimbleness (as a result of even more bulk) on nice bits of road like the Black Spur (I'm an ex Mexican mate) etc.
Not knowing exactly what the VE will be like makes it hard to know whether to jump for a VZ L76 now or to wait.
If the VE rear suspension is sorted out properly, one good thing should be more even rear tyre wear. My VY has control link suspension and it still chops out the inside edges of the rear tyres. If it's true that Holden deleted the control link from their early IRS cars, this would undermine my opinion of the way Holden treats its customers. In any case, I hope that rear tyre wear is fixed for the VE. Better late than never.
The cynic might wonder how much advertising Holden will push towards the Tabloids around the country.

My current lease expires late October so hopefully will get some feedback for a couple of months after launch. I'll decide then whether to go VE or a cheap runout.

I can envisage long waiting periods for the VE - even moreso than what people are experiencing now, especially if the car is as good as people in the know say it is.
Right before the VE release would be the most opportune time to pick up a runout VZ, but then you risk kicking yourself when you see a VE in the flesh for the first time.

I'm swaying more for the VE in anycase (wont rule out a VZ but unlikely). As it will be another lease, I dont really care if there is teething problems with the VE. I'll only have it for 3 - 4 years in anycase then move on. Aiming for a VE senator, also have the option to extend my current lease on completion for 3 months if there is a waiting period.

I wouldn't be too concerned about missing out on a VZ after VE release. Holden dealerships all over the place will have VZs in stock for a while after VE release. There might be less of a choice of colour and config, though.
With VE making VZ 'obsolete', I would think Holden could come up with some nice incentives to shift the older stock.
