Hi guys, this thread is kind of a two part question.

I have a VT Calais, and one of the backlights on my climate control system has died. I am trying to figure out how to remove the woodgrain section so i can get behind the climate control display and replace the globe. The woodgrain section i am trying to remove is the big plastic piece that runs around the guages, comes down over the centre vents and headunit and then past the gear shifter and power window switches.
I just cant figure out how to remove it. I have located two screws above the dash guages, there are another 2 or 3 screws in the fuse compartment under the steering wheel. How do i remove the rest of it? Do i need to remove the switches first? (headlight switch, hazard light switch etc...) if so how do i do that? How do i remove the whole center section? I cant see any screws.

Secondly, i had a thought. If im removing everything i might change all the globes to blue. I was thinking of buying blue light condoms (little colored gloves that fit over the globes) and replacing the green backing (on all the parts that are illuminated) with a heat resistant blue flim that i have.
Has anyone ever done this (or something similar) if so, were you happy/unhappy with the result? any tips/pointers? do you have any pictures?

ok here we go:)
pull the little plastic thing out that sits in where your cigerette lighter sits, there will be 2 screws in there to undo.then if its a manual like mine just grab the plastic peice around the bottom edge through the gearstick boot cover toward the powerwindows switches and lift it.it may take a sharp hard lift as there are 2 metal clips on either side that will pop out.then try to shift that peice out the way the best you can.

ok then undo those 2 screws above your dash, then drop the plastic bit that sits under you steering wheel, the big peice that covers your fuses etc. there will be 2 screws on the right hand side and 1 on the left that you can now get to on the dash fascia your trying to get out.
then down near your stereo you will also be able to undo the other 2 screws that hold the peice there. i think if you still have the stock stereo in there you will have remove that too(easy) then its just some of those metal clips holding the whole shebang in place:) just start working around it and you will see where these are.good luck!
