I've noticed quite a few threads regarding guys wanting to know "how much" to do x, y & z. This obviously causes quite alot of wasted space for you guys, so why not let a member post a thread on what service / upgrade they want, and then let the the forum sponsors contact the member via PM and bid to carry out the service / upgrade for them.

To explain my rationale, I for example may have the cash to upgrade my diff ratio, post a thread requesting this service, then co such as Diff Technics contacts me and offers the service with a quote. Another diff co may also respond with an offer which allows me to choose the co with the best price, service, reputation etc.

Not sure if you guys get any kickbacks from forum sponsors, but if you dont, this may be an avenue to raise some revenue for any sales that are carried out if I went ahead with the diff upgrade.

Just a thought, looking forward to your feedback.

Price competition already happens.
I think that sort of auction would only encourage back yarding and poor quality. Its little different to what AAMI do when u have a smash, lowest bid gets the job. It doesnt take too much nounse to work out that corners may be cut with the lowest bid.
I think most people when entrusting their car to surgery, might want more than the lowest priced doctor:D

Obviously sponsors already pay to advertise.

The Forum Sponsors are what keeps this forum up and running and free to you users  The Sponsors already offer competitive rates for their services and deliver as they know that if they don't and the customer isn't happy then they will tell others about their problems etc. etc. etc. As they say one unhappy customer is equivalent to losing 10 customers.

We encourage users to patronise our Sponsors yet it is not compulsory to do so in order to use the forums. Bear in mind that these Sponsors through their sponsorship help keep this community going and growing.

I dont see how a Forum Sponsor would cut corners, if they are a forum sponsor they are there because of their quality.

You seem to focus too much on my mention of price.

No matter though, point taken, not suitable to this site.

Which is why I would only want one of them to do the work for me, since they sponsor this site.

Thanks for the feedback.

Most people will shop around the different sponsors and see what deal they can get, and you will find most people also stick with one sponsor/workshop for 99% of their stuff once they find someone they are happy with.

Besides the forum isnt here to "get the cheapest price", its here as a place to share information and discuss things with other like minded people. The Sponsors are here to assist with the information flow and to sell their products and services to the community. In return they usualy try and offer competeive rates to the members here. But nowhere along the line was it designed to be a bidding system for the best price!

I agree with ryzz.
Don't forget you get what you pay for.
How many times have you been stung while trying to save a few $$$$.
Also i think its best if its kept in the open.
