Sounds like a fake.

I bought a VS with factory fitted LPG and never got the HBD badge.

Also, you're right. They're called Holden By Design, not Holden Design.

Sounds legit - not 100% there was a range of 'Holden Design' and 'Formula' (I think???) spoilers etc for Barina, Astra, Commodore etc back in the 80s

Not that it means much...

if it's green and black its an original badge and a rectangle shape. and was either fitted at holden or after the car was purchursed as there have been a few badges kicking around for sale so the previous owner could of stuck it on. Holden only stuck them on the garnish on the lower left hand side.

It's the real deal. My old car was a VN S Pack (Formula) and it had a Holden Design badge. As far as I've been told, Holden Design was the forerunner of HBD. I think it was mostly to do with body kits and mags, just the dealer fitted aftermarket sort of thing.

I had fun with insurance on mine because I tried to tell them that it had a factory body kit (because it was fitted before sale and had a Holden part number), but as it wasn't "factory fitted", they made me list it as aftermarket. Still got cheap insurance though.

I'll put a photo up a little later.

To solve this once and for all. The genuine parts listing shows the "HOLDEN DESIGN" badge attached to the LH lower corner of the plastic filler panel, between the taillights, of VN sedans. It's part of the formula package available as a dealer fitted accessory at the time, and they did use the VN SS spoiler. If it's attached to the spoiler itself, that's not where the dealer puts it.

thanks guys thats helped me alot now i know its not one of them puss fake kits only thing being its obviously been put on aftermarket being on the spoiler & not the rear garnish, still unsure whether to get rid of it though!!
