G'day,
I'm just looking for the most likely cause for dipping revs.
When I bring my Naro to a halt, the revs dip and quickly come back up to the specified ~5500rpm. Slight shudder is felt.
When the car is stationary, and power steering is used, revs also dip slight shuddering is felt during use of the wheel.
I have reset the battery overnight - and symptoms still persist.
This all happened after Holden had her for a day, replacing a cracked spark lead after I had extractors fitted. The cracked lead led to terrible idle. But the car was spot on prior to all this.
Just wish to know - is this a symptom of crap PCM programming - or could it be something else also?
Cheers,
Muz

The exhaust can affect the idle , given that it was ok before you had this done I would check a little further first for cracked / damaged spark plugs , very common when exhaust are fitted , also look at o2 sensors as a exhaust can affect them badly.
All else fails drop by and I will chuck the scanner at it and see if I can locate anything.

Thanks Dan,
I will contact you within a couple of days to arrange me coming in for that well overdue tune. Maybe for next week if you have the time? Anyway I'll discuss it with you soon.

As a general rule, using power steering while stationary - on any car, not just Holden - is not a very good thing to do. Like riding the clutch in first to hold the car on a hill rather than using brakes, or resting your foot on the clutch lever while driving, it might not immediately cause a problem. But it's not good practice.

Muz,
I have a VX monaro and it is doing the same thing (the revs dip and i feel a shudder). I recently had the O2 sensors changed to try to fix the problem (needed new ones anyway), but no luck.
I'll probably bring it down to Chipmasters to get them to have a look to.

I think it is a typo, it is meant to be 550 rpm

my 04 285kw stock grange does this also but only noticed when pulling up at lights or idle, stop start city traffic crawling along, almost feels like exhaust is rubbing against the body of the car but it was on a hoist last week getting new tyres so i had a look and the exhaust is nowhere near the body
