View Full Version : Tried a FPV GT today

Had a New 6 Spd Auto GT in today for the MD to try out.Took her out for a spin after the boss had finished.
First thing I noticed was the bulge ,the one on the bonnet!,geez its noticeable.Nice looks inside and out,but like all BA's,BF's I can,t get a seating postion that suits me.

What I liked.

Sound.Its sure has a nice note to it.Kept giving it a bootful just hear it.
Transmission was great,wish it was in the Commodore.Very smooth shifts
Ride was nice,not harsh like FE2 equipped Commodores

What I didn,t like
Starter button is pure wank.
Still a porker of car
Seats could use more side bolstering
Seat won,t go low enough for my height 6'5
Even with the 6Spd auto,it didn,t seem to be any quicker than my stock SV8

But the sound sure is nice!

You need to get into the 6 speed auto Typhoon. Where do you live? I'll take you for a spin in mine...

did it have an atermarket exhaust - becuase they usually sound crap.

Agree, every one I have heard don't sound as good as VY and onwards LS1 imo.

Wow! You guys must have strange taste. I have heard a GT(stock) from the inside and from outside and I think it is pure horn!

The Boss 290 is slow,nose heavy and won't rev past 6000rpm........BUT it is the best sounding engine coming out of Australia at the moment.

Lets not compare after market with stock, ok.

My mate has aftermarket quad pipes on his GTP and I have difillipos, as good as my car sounds, the GTP takes the cake. :bawl:

I agree, the Fords give a richer note IMO. Lovely.

I think thats exaggerating it a bit. I have heard plenty of Boss motors and I don't think they sound anything special at all.

IMO nothing beats the sound of the 304 EFI V8. Now that's a great sounding V8.

People have such varied opinions of what makes a great V8 sound, and they certainly can sound very different.

No ,car was completely stock,and I thought it sounded pretty good.
Thanks for offer of the Typhoon spin,have already tried one briefly,and yes its a better car than the GT imho.Would be my pick of the whole Falcon range.
