Was just looking at my Dec 2005 build SV6 M6 and was wondering if it is suppose to have a fender badge on the LHS.... Down the shops today I saw a SV6 and it did have one on the LH Fender along the lines of High Output v6... Is this something that was just something on the autos or is mine missing it

Holden de-contented some items from all models to enable extra discounts leading up to VE. A variety of badges are one of those reductions.

Thats the case... changes I remember:
- no rubber strips on the side of acclaims and execs
- no dash top storage lid over climate control on the SS's and calais's
- no badges on the fenders apart from the V8's
- the acclaim lost the black deco strip on the rear bumper
you could bet they cut some quality control too...
apparently they save trillions of dollars with it:rolleyes: ;)

yep
Our first SV6 was one of the first off the line and it had the badges - V6 Alloytec 190
Had I known they had stopped selling the cars with them I wouldve swiped them from the last SV6, whacked on some glue and away we wouldve been!

Our newest one which wouldve been around August last year doesnt have the badges.
Neither does our Adventra which was built July complied August last year.
I'm surprised about the storage compartment, they finally found a use for that area and can it?
But yeah budget cuts. Just say for instance each Alloytec V6 badge cost 20 cents - so 40 cents total for both. Times this by 100 000 cars, thats $40 000 worth of Alloytec V6 badges. Even if they cost 0.5 cents each (half a cent), times 100 000 cars thats still $10 000 worth of badges.

My 9/2/06 built SV6 doesn't have the badges either. I don't mind it actually, only badges are on the back....

Rememebr you are not only saving on the cost of badges you are also saving on payng someone to put them one.. and holdens ran three shift for almost all of last year you are actually saving the wages of three people (one on each shift)
there was a report on this forum that with all the deletions such as side modeling and badges as listed by Guzzles etc holdens saved around $5million!

If I recall right it was a running change in mid/late 2005. There wasn't much talk about it. Neither on here nor official news from Holden.

Probably stopped putting the Alloytec badges on the Commodores so they could send them to Thailand and put them on the Rodeo!

To end speculation about this one......
Code YK5
Cost effective point control to/from 5L468285, 30/6/05 production date.
From that tag removed some items/discounts increased.

They would have to make some new badges for 06 Commodores anyways 'cause the old badges were "Alloytec190" (as on Y2K's Addy) and "Alloytec175". The 2006 EURO III compliant engines have 172kw and 190kw and are now called "Alloytec V6" and "Alloytec Hight Output V6"

are deletions such as this for Holdens benefit, ie profits
or for our benefit, ie lower price.?
at a single car level, I dont see a major drop in price by deleting such items really, as most of us tend to want those extras anyway.!
funny how we try and screw the price down on a car when we buy it and then throw more money at it after we bought it... lol
