After much searching and 3000 kms of driving I have a found a good VY, one that appears well looked after, its an April 04 build and at the moment has 21 000 km;s on the clock. Its an M6 BTW, very differant to the auto I had..
Extras include:
19 inch wheels
K&N filter
LS1 Edit
Very loud free flow, catless exhaust system, sounds amazing
Branches/extractors
Extra imported from Aus driving lamps, subjective but I like them...
Am very happy with it, goes very well and attracts quite a bit of attention..
Anyway some pics...please excuse the quality..

Thanks, the extra lights do take a bit of getting used to, but they do add to a very mean overtaking presence....and of course having them there means I have a small dilemma, where to fit a numberplate....

Nice one, I like the extra lights as you said it would look mean coming up behind you. Was the edit done in Sth Africa or Australia and is it a one owner? How did you come across it? was it word of mouth or internet? Sorry about all the questions:shock:
And finally one more :nyuk: what did you do with your VXSS?
Thanks
Peter.

The edit was done in South Africa, we have one expert here.. its a two owner car, the first owner was a dealer principal of one of our Chev dealers...the second owner was also in the motor trade. Found it on the South African Auto Trader website, had been looking for a while and this one seemed good value for money...
Traded the VXSS in on the VY...
Wheels are not actually that bad to clean, take some time but not nearly as bad the Golf 4 GTI we used to have...that was a nightmare...
Any yeh we need to have front numberplates...but it appears there isnt room for one on this VY....

Dont you get hefty fines for driving without number plates? I mean, its kinda hard to miss...;) But those wheels are really nice... who gives a sht about cleaning if they look good:p

yeh you do get fines but we dont have too many traffic cops...and one can apply for a numberplate exemption, if the plate is too large for the car...best option is to lie the plate on the dashboard, that way its still visible but...not as visible to camera's.....I find 30min of so is enought to clean the wheels...

Not sure whereabouts you are but I saw plenty of people driving around with no plates at all in Pretoria and Jo'burg when I was over there last. In a way it's a performance car enthusiast's dream, everyone just drives pretty much as fast as they like on the motorways. Most of my relatives aren't too happy about all the new tolls though! But yeah some really good roads around SA, every time I'm over there I find myself wishing I had my VY with me, could really have some fun (in a safe, non-threatening kind of way, of course :D)
Incidentally, what kind of anti-theft measures have you got in it. (Or maybe you prefer to keep them secret :eyes: ) Would be a fairly high theft risk, such a rare exotic?

Its not as perfect thought, some roads are terribly pot holed...and we have trucks and taxis that are a law unto themselves...but yeh we are'nt as constrained speed limit wise, 120 km/h on national roads though in some remote areas one can do considerably more...
What you do have in Aus that we dont have is the Northern Territory.....that must be bliss...
As for theft measures, there isnt really a market for Holdens among theives really(at least as far as I know), got the standard security system, but use the dead lock function....
