I have an 07/ 2004 cv8 with the usual bolt on mods. I have travelled a few ks ( 55klm ) and want to get the auto serviced. Should i leave the servicing of the auto to my holden dealer or a transmission specialist? If a transmission specialist, can anyone recommend someone in Melbourne? I live in inner northern Melbourne. Any info would be appreciated .
Cheers.

Mine just clicked up 20,000k's - and I had the transmission fluid (& filters) changed at my Holden service. Told them not to plug it in & play with line pressures etc (don't think they can anyway because my tuner has locked everything up).
No problems with the service result. Seems a little crisper - but probably just my impression. Cost an extra $86.36c so pretty happy overall.
Do you run a tranmission cooler ?? - best to invest in one.
All i remember is that servicing my own auto for the first time was a bitch! Seems all simple when its ment to be just remove pan, let drain, remove filter, clean and reverse process. So if your into the whole work on your car, let some four letter words loose and have a beer, do it yourself!
But if your not into it just let your dealer do it, or if your trans specialist can do it cheaper, go for them, as its not that hard or complicated overall and i cant see how someone that works on cars for a living could really screw up a fluid change... Then again you never know

Thanks for the info. I dont mind working on the car, but i always prefer to get a specialist to perform most work for the best result .I do not run a trans cooler. Do i need one with only 237rwkw? I do not tow anything and i travel only 20 min each way in traffic to work, although i do use all of the vehicles performance regularly! I have also been told that trans coolers can be hard on the auto, especially in the winter, not allowing the trans to get up to operating temperature on short trips? Any info would be good.
Cheers.
fit a cooler, anything you do to lower trans temps is a good thing, it will still get upto temp no worries. do it, your box will last longer
